This seems to be fixed now in my 9.10 install. I am following karmic- proposed so i don't know if this is the same version in the normal patches. 2.0.0~bzr476~0ubuntu3 seems to work fine. Can someone check that this is the same version when you don't have karmic-proposed on? [Bug 239508] [NEW] xine-ui locks sound card
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xine-ui 8.04 32bit xine-ui 0.99.5 Should: Play movie and release sound card. Happened insted: Locks sound card, breaks sound for all other applications. My Write Up: I use the xine-ui package to play DVD's and AVI movies. In 8.04 once i play a movie in xine-ui it will lock the sound card. So i can only get sound from xine-ui from here on out. I dont get any sound from flash youtube videos in firefox or any other audio application after i play a movie in xine-ui. All other aspects of the sound system work perfectly before i start up xine-ui. The fix is to reboot. Although once the sound system has been broken by using xine-ui, the system is no longer able to reboot from gnome without freezing. Workaround: This completely solved the problem on my system. 1) Open xine settings 2) Set configuration experience level to Master of the known Universe 3) Go to the audio tab and set the audio driver to use to alsa (mine was set to auto when i had the problems. 4) Restart and it should work and not blow up. -- xine-ui locks sound card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239508 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
