I had the same problem after installing xubuntu, it was already complaining during installation. *I tried again using the same partitioning as above -failed *added a swap partitoin -failed *used one partition, no swap, no /boot -success, and no errors. so probably the /boot partition was triggering the problem. I Will examine if asked , but please ask me what and how to examine,what tom report.
