[Bug 932229] [NEW] Unity drag causes video repaint problem.

2012-02-14 Thread mycae
Public bug reported:

I am on a Mac Book Pro with an external monitor attached as well.
monitor 0 is the laptop LCD and monitor 1 is the external display.
monitor 0 is 1440x900 and monitor 1 is 1920x1200. Everything was
working with no changes on my end. The bug seems to have been
introduced in the last few days. I am sorry I dont know what was
updated to cause the bug.

When I move an icon in nautilus, thunderbird, firefox, etc. Basically
anything that allows a drag state on my monitor 0 (laptop) screen
moves up. The bottom of the monitor shows black and the top shows the
bottom of the old window. (ie the entire desktop moves up about 450px).

I have deleted the monitor.xml and removed and re-installed the nvidia
173 drivers to no effect. I can minimize the effect by enabling Force
full screen redraws (buuffer swap) on repaint in Work Arounds in
CCSM.

gnome classic and unity 2d work fine. My thoughts are that either CCSM,
Nvidia, or a unity update has caused this.

I am not a linux pro, so please feel free to instruct me on how to
attach whatever info you need.

[Bug 877456] Re: Who cares about num lock?

2011-12-11 Thread mycae
This affects my system - and I have numkeys on the letters.

This needs to not be a warning, but a much less obtrusive notice -- its
confusing to be warned about something that is normal, and often
innocuous.

[Bug 734889] [NEW] H5 Compat macros nonfunctional with -DH5_NO_DEPRECATED_SYMBOLS

2011-03-14 Thread mycae
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am just switching to Kubuntu Lucid after a almost-leave from Linux
administration – and generally I like it a lot. However, I am having
trouble installing some home-written software using HDF5. Our code
requires HDF5 1.8, and so I happily installed the hfd5-serial-dev
packages and such. However, when I try to compile our code using
H5_NO_DEPRECATED_SYMBOLS I get errors that H5Eset_auto1 (and many more)
are not defined... (If I leave the DEFINE away, it finds the functions,
but it tries to use the 1.6 compatibiliy macros for our 1.8 code...)

How can I get a fully functioning HDF5-1.8 install?

I am sorry if this was answered before, I could not find it here or
using Google. However, any pointers to more information are welcome!
Thank you very much in advance.

/Jochen

[Bug 675758] [NEW] libtdsodbc.so misnamed

2010-11-15 Thread mycae
Public bug reported:

User reports:

I seem to recall libtdsodbc.so.0 was once part of this package... I need
it to connect to a MSSQL database with python. There is an old bug
mentioning that it was missing in an earlier version, too. As it is,
there is no sign of this driver anywhere after installing freetds-dev.

I believe this is a bug in this package. I think the .so should be
marked with the soversion, and the .so file should be symlinked. This
seems to be the case for all the contents of /usr/lib/odbc

Hello,

Thankyou for the info, I don't suppose you could point me to the
difference between a DSO and a normal SO, I was of the opinion that
these were different names for the same thing, a'la

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/dso.html ,

and the debian policy manual recommended soversioning in filenames by
the suffix method:

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-sharedlibs.html#s-shlibs

This would be consistent with output from file, which reports this DSO
to be the same as a soversioned SO

Sorry, no.  This is not a shared
library, it's a DSO, and sonames are a
feature of shared libraries.  There's no reason to
 ship this file with a
.0 on the end of it.

Re: [Bug 675758] Re: libtdsodbc.so misnamed

2010-11-15 Thread mycae
Sorry for the repeated postings,

The only thing I can think of that might be a reason to not soversion (and one
that I guess I am not keen about), is if the module was to be optionally loaded
from the program and never by any external tool.
I guess the bit I am not keen on if this was to only be loaded by the package,
or some parent program thereof, is that if I were to (for example) write a hook
based upon this API, the absence of so-versioning would make this more
difficult than it might otherwise be.

I could be missing something large here, but I am unsure what.

[Bug 675063] [NEW] Fill and Fill all squares do not work

2010-11-13 Thread mycae
Public bug reported:

For gnome-sudoku 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1 on Maverick.

According to the manual, fill (CTL-f) should fill in a square if
possible. It does not, and the fill widget is missing from the menus.

This has worked in past versions, up through Lucid, so this is a
regression.

Thank you.

[Bug 652145] [NEW] Meshlab should not phone home

2010-09-30 Thread mycae

Meshlab contacts the upstream provider, and performs network access to
