[Bug 1701234] [NEW] Order of keyboard layouts affects the behaviour of a key

2017-06-29 Thread Nacho G
Public bug reported:

I'm using two layouts in my Xubuntu 16.04 machine: "Spanish" and
"English (UK)". I switch between them by using the "Keyboard Layouts"
element in my xfce4 panel.

The issue seems to be that depending on the order in which I set layouts
in the Keyboard/Layout window, one key (the one on the right of left-
Shift, which is "\" in the UK layout and "<" in the Spanish one) will
behave as if in the English layout while the Spanish layout is set.

Repro steps:
* Add a "Keyboard layout" element to your xfce4 panel for ease of switch.
* Open the Keyboard settings window (for example, by right clicking the
"Keyboard layout" element in the xfce4 panel, which should look like a flag,
and selecting "Keyboard settings").
* Go to "Layout" tab
* If ticked, untick "Use system defaults".
* In the "Keyboard layout" section, remove all layouts and add the following
two: "English (UK)" and "Spanish" IN THIS ORDER (see attached image). (The
order in which you add the entries is irrelevant, the important bit is the
final order in which they are in before closing the window).
* Close the settings window.
* Switch to Spanish by clicking the British flag in the xfce4 panel (it should
become the Spanish flag after clicking on it).
* Open any text editor/terminal and press the key immediately right to the left
shift button. In a UK keyboard it should be "\", in a Spanish keyboard it
should be "<".
* Observe how the key actually acts as the English key. If one presses Shift +
the key, it shows "|" (like in an English keyboard) instead of the expected
">". All the rest of the keys seem to behave as if in a Spanish keyboard,
making it impossible to type "<" or ">".

Workaround:
Placing the Spanish layout before the UK layout seems to fix this, but the
order shouldn't matter.
Also, using "setxkbmap es" and "setxkbmap gb" from the terminal works fine,
regardless of the order set in the Keyboard settings window.

I had the same problem. After reading this thread, I've just uninstalled

looks like it's working (at least, it's been able to compute the needed
changes).

Cheers,

[Bug 1537380] Re: dynare-matlab wrong dependency

2016-03-02 Thread Lucho Nacho
Thanks. I will not request a backport for now. If the "latest
development versions of Ubuntu" means this will be solved in the
oncoming LTS 16.04, then once I upgrade there should be no problem.

[Bug 1537380] [NEW] dynare-matlab wrong dependency

2016-01-23 Thread Lucho Nacho
Public bug reported:

When installing dynare-matlab from ubuntu repositories (4.4.1), I get
the following error:

Setting up dynare-matlab (4.4.1-1build1) ...

/tmp/dynare-matlab-mexbuild-1453566407.Ox9duw7)

dpkg: error processing package dynare-matlab (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

As suggested here http://www.dynare.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5564,
I solved this by previously installing libmatio-dev. Thus, the
dependencies of dynare-matlab need to be fixed.

I have Xubuntu 14.04.3 and Matlab 2015a. Yet, as the post above
indicates, this problem seems to go back at least to Ubuntu 12.04.

According to the KnownBugs website in Dynare, this bug has not been
solved by new releases.

[Bug 1333079] Re: Crash on locking screen on closing laptop lid - lightdm

2015-04-20 Thread Lucho Nacho
My screen also crashes (weird lines/colors) when I lock the screen. What
I know so far is that it is the ATI driver since when using X.org
drivers this doesn't happen. Furthermore, it seems is a problem of
LightDM because this happens when locking but not when suspending
(which doesn't ask me to log in again).

I have Xubuntu 14.04. Upgraded to 14.04.2 and still same problem. I
don't know how to report the bug since there is no formal crash in the
sense that I need to reboot the computer. I can either log out
(ctrl+alt+supr) or switch to another session (ctrl+alt+f1) and then go
back to x-session (ctrl+alt+f7), which apparently restarts lightdm?

More info here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/576996/screen-problem-
with-ati-drivers-but-not-with-x-org

seems to be a race condition what is to blame for this.

[Bug 906615] [NEW] DisplayPort not working properly Dell XPS L501X Ubuntu 64bits

2011-12-19 Thread Nacho
Public bug reported:

Whenever I plug a DP monitor the system recognizes the screen (proper
resolution and all) but the display stays blank (no image at all). In dmesg i
get a "[drm:intel_dp_complete_link_train] *ERROR* failed to train DP, aborting".
If I start the system with the monitor plugged in, then it works, but it
usually fails after a sleep or screen saver blank screen. And of course it does
not work if I unplug it and the plug it again.

After more research, it seems that the problem is derived because the
touchpad is being incorrectly detected as a PS/2 mouse. Marking this bug

[Bug 753641] Re: [Natty] Disable-touchpad key function does not work on a Dell Vostro 3500

2011-07-22 Thread Nacho Coloma
Just to expand on details, this bug *is* happening on Dell Vostro 3550
with Ubuntu 11, but the correct shortcut key is Fn + F3. It works as
photonic reported (notification popup is displayed correctly, but the
touchpad behavior is not modified).

Fn+F6 controls the keyboard lights, and this shortcut works correctly. I
am afraid the shortcut icons on this laptop can be misunderstood easily.

[Bug 470596] [NEW] Evolution - when moving a message it shows the last message of inbox

2009-11-02 Thread Nacho
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When you move a message to another folder in server (I am using IMAP,
and have several folders in server) once the message moved dissappears
the inbox window where all messages appear goes all the way down to the
last message in inbox, which is very annoying if you have a lot of
messages in inbox because you have to go find again where you were to
keep reading messages. This didn't happen before, and doesn't happen
when you erase a message.

[Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards

2009-07-11 Thread Nacho Larrateguy
The instructions written by Djalma B. Martins at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
sis/+bug/301958/comments/38 worked for me.

That, the sisimedia driver, was the only one that worked. Others, like
the one in launchpadlibrarian, had interchanged the values for color
depth (16 and 24). Setting DefaulDepth in Screen section at xorg.conf
only changed after a X restart the lines created in color transitions
for a kind of dithering effect.

The Mandriva binaries instead worked perfectly. I've made a deb package with
those binaries. It's attached.
Further discussions and link recopilation can be found here at my blog:
http://nacho.larrateguy.com.ar/2009/07/11/drivers-de-sis-771671-para-xorg-1-6-mandriva-2009-1-ubuntu-jaunty-9-04/

Sorry, but system became fully unstable and I formatted the usb key. I tried

better wait for an update of the usb startup tool before making a new test.

[Bug 308206] [NEW] When delete text in table composing new message dissappears.

2008-12-15 Thread Nacho
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10, evolution 2.24.2-0ubuntu1

What happens:

1- Create a new message.
2- Change from text to html.
3- Insert table.
4- Write some text in one of the cells.
5- Go anywhere in the written text, delete a letter and the text from that
letter on will disappear.

What should happen:

I would expect it to behave as usual when editing text which is out of a
table. If you delete one letter only that letter disappears.

[Bug 296243] Re: Osmo crashes on contacts search

2008-11-10 Thread Nacho Alonso
Sorry, I thought it would be so easy to reproduce I didn't even attach
the terminal output. Here it is.

I have reproduced it with the official intrepid ibex package in a i686
architecture. Later I compiled myself the latest SVN revision. I have
not tried version 0.2.4 from jaunty or the Debian package

In my opinion, this does not seem to be a bug in Osmo but in some
library, since it affects versions of Osmo that worked before the
upgrade.

Hope it helps

I have checked this in the version of Osmo in the Ubuntu repositories

+
+ Steps to reproduce
+ 1- Start Osmo with an empty contact list
+ 2- Add a new contact. Name it 'John'
+ 3- Click the search box
+ 4- Press 'j', Osmo crashes
+

[Bug 282652] Re: Duplicity does not recognize the host name

2008-10-13 Thread Nacho Mas
Ah! well, my /etc/hosts looked like this:

127.0.0.1 Caliope localhost.localdomain localhost

So it makes sense, since Caliope did not have a period... Now I feel a
bit dumb! Thanks very much for the help. I just checked that now it
works removing the localhost.localdomain

Please, mark it as solved...

/Nacho

in duplicity...

Re: [Bug 191842] Re: [gutsy] File Chooser displays .hiddenDirectory regardless of hidden files preferences and hides noToHideDirectory

2008-02-19 Thread Nacho
Hi,
no need to thanks.
It took me some time but I could reproduce it with a new user.
Steps:

   1. Be sure that /desktop/gnome/cile_views/show_hidden_files/ it has
   "true" as value.
  1. Open gconf-editor
  2. Navigate there
  3. Cross the option
  2. Create an empty file in Desktop
   3. Double click it to open it with GEDIT (e.g.)
   4. Go to File/Open
   5. Navigate to $HOME folder, you should see both, hidden and normal
   files
   6. Right click, to unmark "show hidden files"
  - It hides normal files
   7. Do the right click thing again
  - It duplicates the list of hidden, not showing normal files.
   8. It get fixed if program is launched with hidden files "hidden"

Let me know if you could reproduce it.
Regards and thanks to you and the team.

[Bug 191842] [NEW] [gutsy] File Chooser displays .hiddenDirectory regardless of hidden files preferences and hides noToHideDirectory

2008-02-14 Thread Nacho
Public bug reported:

Using Gutsy.
By default I've "show hidden files", but when trying to deactivate it in a
FileChooser (with right click), hides the normal directories. If it's done
again, it doesn't show anymore the normal directories but duplicate the list of
hidden ones.

reinstalled the plugin it worked on the first launch of firefox, but if i
closed and relaunched the browser then it wont be able to load the plugin.
