[Bug 1356244] [NEW] Security issue: Update not possible on encrypted disk after a few months

2014-08-13 Thread netAction
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 is running on a standard installation with fully encrypted
disk. After a few months the update breaks because of a crowded /boot
partition. As a workaround it would be possible to remove old kernel
images.

This is a heavy security issue as it prevents the whole system from
being updated. Could be reproduced on several systems.

[Bug 714862] Re: Atheros AR3002 cannot be turned up/is not recognized.

2011-12-19 Thread netAction
On the Dell Inspiron Duo, Ubuntu 11.10 32bit I found this:

lsusb - 0cf3:3002 Atheros Communications, Inc.
hciconfig --all - No BD address
sudo sdptool browse (found in bluez packet) - fail

I installed dkms from repository and ar3011-dkms_1.1ryu2.3_all.deb from
this page. Reboot.

After that everything works fine. I did not need dell-laptop-
dkms_1.4_all.deb.

[Bug 700107] Re: mods-available load script missing, and when loaded module does not work at all

2011-06-23 Thread netAction
Workaround:

As you said you need to load the module:
# cat /etc/apache2/mods-available/auth_openid.load
LoadModule authopenid_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_auth_openid.so

Enable it:
# cd /etc/apache2/mods-enabled
# ln -s ../mods-available/auth_openid.load .

Use this in your Apache Directive:
AuthOpenIDEnabled On
AuthType OpenID

Restart Apache:
# apache2ctl restart

Now you should see the OpenID login screen on your webpage.

In PHP the user name is here:
echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_USER'];

If you want to give access to special users as you are used to do with require
user alice bob do this:
http://findingscience.com/mod_auth_openid/authuserprogram.html

** Also affects: libapache2-mod-auth-openid (Debian)

[Bug 521472] [NEW] Crash when playback of HD videos

2010-02-13 Thread netAction
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: blender

Ubuntu i386 9.10, blender 2.49a+dfsg-0ubuntu2

Adding the video on http://webspace.netaction.de/tmp/videosample/ works, but
playback always crashes.
It is possible to view the video with ffplayer, so it is no issue with ffmpeg.

Seems as if swscaler is called wrong and causes a stack corrumption or
buffer overwrite.

It is possible to add the video after converting to mpg with
$ ffmpeg -sameq -i MVI_3280.MOV MVI_3280.mpg

[Bug 491363] Re: Show shy hyphens and other invisible spaces

2009-12-03 Thread netAction
Copy and paste This text in gedit. It ist full of shy
hyphens.
And this line, too:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Then enable the plugin Draw Spaces, if not already done.

You will not see the shy hyphens but the normal spaces. But the sense of the
plugin is to show all the invisible spaces.
More than that, the shy hyphens should be visible even without the plugin as
done by OOo.

2008-07-10 Thread netAction
Thanks a lot for the very good explanation!

I trusted on the man page, but it is wrong. I is not possible to display
a HTML page without background images:

ubuntu-hardy$ man wget
   -p

This option causes Wget to download all the files that are neces‐
sary to properly display a given HTML page. This includes such
things as inlined images, sounds, and referenced stylesheets.

I am sorry, you are right. The Image must have been on the disk before
already.

That means that the sentence in the man page
all the files that are necessary to properly display a given HTML page.
will not come true before ubuntu 9.x.

I found a very simple solution:
ubuntu-hardy$ httrack http://domain.com

[Bug 186048] [NEW] Gnome - Connect to server - nothing happens

Public bug reported:

Hello!

I have Ubuntu Gutsy.
If I click on places - connect to server and fill out the form for ssh, I get
an icon on the desktop, but not a message while connecting. A window with the
connecting status would be fine.
I always do not know what is up, if the computer is still trying to find the
server or what else happens.

Yesterday I saw that my girlfriend had the same problem. She could not
connect to my system and did not know why. Then I decided to report this
as a bug.

It would be great, if the window would inform the user if the ping is
not ok, the port is closed or something like that.

2007-12-07 Thread netAction
I just installed Gutsy on a former swap partition.
The installer crashed with a warning, that grub did not work. I could not boot
the computer from HDD.
Then I installed Gutsy again. Now I used the ext3 partition generated from the
installer the first time. Everything works fine.

[Bug 174619] Installer cannot use existent file system as root

2007-12-07 Thread netAction
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I wanted to keep my ext3 file system with gigs of photos and other stuff. So I
deleted everything of the old Ubuntu expect of my data.
But the installer of Gutsy refused installing on that partition. I had to make
the file system smaller with gparted, build a new partition, install Ubuntu on
that, move the data on the new partition, delete the old one and resize the new
to full size. That sucks!

[Bug 174385] Frozen Bubble bug in fullscreen

2007-12-06 Thread netAction
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: frozen-bubble

The fullscreen mode of frozen bubbles does not work properly on both of
my computers:

Ohe is a 1680x1050 widescreen. Frozen bubbles scales to the full screen.
This looks nice, but it is hard to play, because the angles of
reflection of the balls change. And the balls look like eggs. I have
Gutsy on this machine.

The other problem is on my Computer with 1024x768 an Feisty running.

[Bug 174395] Quake3 not installed properly

2007-12-06 Thread netAction
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: quake3-data

OK, someone wants to build a real Quake3 package for Ubuntu. But there
is none.

At the moment there is a installer from ID on a lazy server and you need
the CD with the 400MB data. Both is used by the buggy Ubuntu package
quake3-data. The installation did not finish after downloading the
pointrelease from ID. I had to start it manually. It works. OK, but then

[Bug 87888] Re: Correct resolution detected, but doesn't work with vesa

2007-10-17 Thread netAction
In Gutsy Release Candidate it is OK.
Ubuntu uses automatically Vesa with a lower resolution (1400x1200 or something
like that) out of the box.

I selected a standard monitor with 1680x1050, but even then it is not possible
to switch to that resolution.
I'd say the bug is fixed, because for installation and data recovery it is
enough.

[Bug 87884] Re: strange Marvell 88E8053 Gigabit Ethernet

2007-02-27 Thread netAction
I wrote a PHP script that creates a webpage with an adjustable output size:
? for ($a=0;$a$size;$a++) echo X; ?

When I put it on a server in the lan, everything works fine with every size of
page.
But when I put it on my webspace far away in the internet, the connection
crashes with pages bigger than 950 bytes plus http header. The reason is
simple: my cheap router can not split lage packages.

All my computers have a MTU size of 1500 bytes without any adjustment, but only
this one has 1320 after startup. I changed it.
sudo ifconfig eth0 mtu 1500.
And now everything works fine, I can browse the internet and do everything else
I want to.

Please, fix it. I needed hours to find this out.
