[Bug 1586528] Re: Avahi-daemon withdraws address record

2017-07-19 Thread niedzielski
I've had this issue constantly since upgrading to Ubuntu v17.04 (not a
VM). It was unusably bad. Fortunately, disabling IPv6 has been a
consistently successful workaround for me:

1 Add the following /etc/sysctl.conf:

  net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
  net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
  net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1

2 Run `sudo sysctl -p` after rebooting, cycling Wi-Fi, or changing
networks.

I feel silly writing this because I'm certain there's a better fix but
it looks like other folks have tried similar workarounds.

[Bug 1652402] [NEW] "Lock to Launcher" generates invalid .desktop file when path contains spaces

2016-12-23 Thread niedzielski
Public bug reported:

Unity v7.5.0+16.10.20160906.1-0ubuntu1
Ubuntu v16.10

Repro steps:
1. Open an app with spaces in the executable path that has no .desktop file
2. Right click the app icon in the launcher and click "Lock to Launcher"

Expected results:
A valid .desktop file is generated

Actual results:
A file like the following is generated in ~/.local/share/applications:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=Salvage Solitude 8140 Configuration
Icon=salvagesolitude8140v0_6_x86_64.png
Path=/home/stephen/.config/itch/apps/Salvage Solitude
8140/SalvageSolitude8140v0.6 - Linux
Exec=/home/stephen/.config/itch/apps/Salvage Solitude
8140/SalvageSolitude8140v0.6 - Linux/SalvageSolitude8140v0.6.x86_64
StartupNotify=false
StartupWMClass=SalvageSolitude8140v0.6.x86_64
OnlyShowIn=Unity;
X-UnityGenerated=true

The spaces should be escaped or the locked app will disappear on the
subsequent session

[Bug 1232454] Re: Often automatic suspend dialog when I unlock

2013-10-31 Thread Adam Niedzielski
"Three times in a row, after resuming from suspend I unlock the
computer. Then immediately after unlock the screen goes black and then
the login window again, forcing me to login yet another time.

Related or separate bug?"

I think that it is a clash between action on suspend (Settings -> Power)
and action when inactive (Settings -> Brightness & Lock). I had suspend
after 5 minutes and turning off screen after 5 minutes. I believe that
this was causing duplicated unlock

This behaviour is extremely annoying - huge step backwards. Is there a
way to revert to previous (working) version of the package?

[Bug 463983] Re: error upgrading to karmic libc6

2009-10-30 Thread Maciej Niedzielski
So it seems that ixp4xx is no longer supported in karmic
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-
installer/+bug/392238). However it would be nice if upgrade tool could
detect this and warn (or better stop) me.

[Bug 376383] Re: plasma crash on dual monitor change

2009-08-12 Thread Maciej Niedzielski
Hello. I am using Kubuntu Jaunty and I encountered this error a moment
ago. I used my laptop with external display before (twinview) and now i
started it without 2nd display.

I followed the instructions from comment #4 to create a backtrace, but
I'm afraid it won't be very helpful, because it doesn't look like it
crashed..
