The same for me on any theme, but in "human"  theme icon is a bit
smaller. Temporary workaround: I use 26 pixels wide panel, but theme
uses 32x32 icon (instead of scaling down 48x48 scalable version), so I
just replaced user-trash.png in /usr/share/icons/Tango/32x32/places with
the smaller one from 24x24 set. Maybe this should help tracing the
problem.

Using Hardy with latest updates.

[Bug 252390] Re: Hardy randomly locks up during shutdown

The same here. Only when external display attached poweroff/reboot randomly 
just blanks the screen, fan is still running, wlan switch is working, keyboard 
has no affect. Ibex 8.10 release with the latest patches.
Is there any way to trace/debug this?
