[Bug 576352] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/locks up often
Another remark - I didn't experience this problem with 10.04 originally only after some weeks of usage (and updates). To test this I have yesterday re-installed 10.04 and accepted all updates except the following packages which I have locked: linux-generic 2.6.32.21.22 linux-headers-generic 2.6.32.21.22 linux-image-generic 2.6.32.21.22 xserver-common 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7 xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7 My system runs stable with this configuration whereas I suffered from random freezes before with a fully up-to-date 10.04. My configuration is a Thinkpad W510 with the nVidia graphics chipset (using Nouveau driver). Maybe it helps to have a closer look into what changed between those packages and their latest versions. -- Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/locks up often https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 576352] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/locks up often
Apologies. Ignore my last comment. It happened again after several hours of use. Same symptoms as before. I could ping the machine for a while, but using ssh to get a remote login didn't work. After some minutes the host was unreachable. -- Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/locks up often https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 576352] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/locks up often
I had exactly the same problems as described here and only by downgrading to 9.10 could I avoid those nasty freezes. Upgrading to 2.6.34 did *not* help. Reading the forums this problem seems to affect quite a few people. -- Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/locks up often https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 572863] [NEW] gvim display corruption
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vim The gvim text window is showing display corruptions which make it unusable to work with. I am using gvim on an external monitor but it was always showing fine before I upgraded to 10.04. [Bug 572863] Re: gvim display corruption
Sometimes a small gvim window renders fine for some time. Maximizing it (1900x1200 resolution) triggers the problem quickly. And sometimes restoring the original size also removes the display artifacts. Sometimes, sometimes not. -- gvim display corruption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572863 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 230048] Re: Java leaves Text Refresh Visual Artifacts
I can confirm similar problems with Java 6 + Swing under Hardy. I also have an nvidia card. The problem appears for instance on long lines of text when scrolled horizontally, but other swing elements are affected as well. Another machine running the same software stack but without the nvidia card doesn't show these problems, so my guess would be the nvidia driver/settings. java version 1.6.0_06 Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02) Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode) xorg 1:7.3+10ubuntu10 nvidia-glx 1:96.43.05+2.6.24.13-19.42 nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1ubuntu8 nvidia-settings1.0+20080304-0ubuntu1 ** Attachment added: 2.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15516154/2.png -- Java leaves Text Refresh Visual Artifacts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
