I've solved this issue on my machine. Sound from speakers and mic work great by unmutting Surround in Volume Control as linked above. However, I'm unable to get my internal mic to pick up anything other than garbled sound. It does recognize the level of volume (talk louder the garbled sound gets louder), but doesn't pick up and play back anything other than garbled clicks. This should probably be in another bug ticket but I wonder if it's related. Anyone else have this issue? I'm using sound recorder to test. Sound Working on HP mini 110!! These are the steps I took: 1) added options snd-hda-intel model=ref to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (not sure it did anything but listing it just in case) 2) reboot 3) Volume - Volume Control - Preferences - check EVERYTHING 4) Unmuted Surround Sound on headphones and speakers work!
