[Bug 678186] Re: udate manager disfunctional/synaptic inaccessable

2010-12-01 Thread okkie
You are most kind and I think this way we wil eventually sort out the
problem.the reason why I reported a bug was because the computer told me so.I
also think I should mention here where my problem lies and I have read that
there are many others with the same problem. What follows is of course once
again what the computer requires to take place and cannot be done: {It is
impossible to install or remove any software. Please use the package manager
"Synaptic" or run "sudo apt-get install -f" in a terminal to fix this issue at
first.}per computer.Second trying to open synaptic: {dpkg configure-a} also not
possible. So if none of the computers suggestions can work,is there not a script
available to restore everything back to before the updates we have had till now
?I also installed the medibuntu package which I now believe is not suitable for
maverick as there has not been a maverick medibuntu package made available for
maverick?
Just shooting in the dark but hoping the info can be of some assistanceand
needless to say the updates should probably not been made available before
properly tested.whatever the case may be I will assist in everyway I can to
help bring the matter to a conclution. Thanks a lot for you time.

[Bug 671287] Re: cannot delete from outbox and sometimes others

2010-11-06 Thread okkie
Further possible relevant info: I have a standard 386 pentium 4 machine with
everything normally needed.I upgraded to 10.10 and as usual went to the after
install wiki for sound and video to install medibuntu package, googleearth
etc.On reloading I was told I have duplicate medibuntu repositories and google
package, which is in synaptic, doesn't exist.Installed google in synaptic which
wont function because of 'child process'.Checked with the forums for similar
experiences and found nothing and totally unaware of howmuch I have done wrong
till now in the process decided to go to my mail in evolution to get something
positive done.
When I started deleting unwanted mail I discovered delete function doesn't
work.Comp. draws a line through selected mails and stop.I now decided to send
mails as usual which was very slow and when I opened the outbox it was loaded
with old mail dating back to 6 to 8 months ago. When I tried to delete them I
got a message saying the outbox file is irrecoverably corrupt end all deletion
now failed.Hence my problem.
Having read the bug report instructions by now I was more positive and reloaded
evolution 3x,opened all files and reselected my mail choices etc etc, restarted
and shut down the comp. 2x and out of the blue about an hour ago deletion
started working and evolution back to normal.
I suppose I succeeded in making a fool of myself and thank you for your
time.Case closed.
I am attaching three screen shots which must be relevant for your perusal.
Thanks

[Bug 268502] Re: Bluetooth association no longer works

2009-01-29 Thread okkie
As an Ubuntu user living in Ubuntu country and proud of it,I can only comment
as follows:
At the last Linux Foundation International Gathering it was concluded that
we,the Ubuntu users, amongst others, are the vitally needed guinea-pig force
needed to achieve the ultimate goal of a near-as-possible perfect operating
system to oppose Windows/Gates.They further expressed their gratitude for
software development but wowed the serious lack of TESTING it before putting
into it practice. This is our problem.
An operating system as advanced as Intrepid 8.10 should, when launched ,not
have vital components like bluetooth all facets, printer drivers and the like,
not functioning properly as thousands of us use these machines to earn our
daily living
and dis-functionality of 'vital' components force us to Windows.A totally
unacceptable situation.
I realise the problems are vast but cannot accept that after all the bug
reports and comments all over the forums, Intrepid is just not delivering what
it was intended to do and its the modern day basics that are troublesome.

[Bug 288613] Re: Intrepid: RC Regression. Bluetooth no longer pairs correctly which it did in beta

2008-12-01 Thread okkie
>From what I've read till now I think the whole Intrepid bluetooth problem has
>been reported in full as it appears that pairing the devices is the main
>issue.
What is of major importance to me and many others i'm sure, is the time it will
take to fix the problem as my income depend on transferring files to and from
my phone.I lack the knowledge to offer any personal help and would like to
thank the programmers in advance for their efforts to rectify the problem as
soon as possible.
