[Bug 881079] Re: "Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration" at startup
Thank you for your answer. However, there is a reason if want to keep ppp inside /etc/network/interfaces. Indeed, when finally the wlan is started, then the ppp will work, too, without human interference. Otherwise, if I remove the interface ppp, I will have to manually launch "pon dsl-provider"... ok, not a great effort, but I prefer to avoid it. By the way, I am *sure* that my wlan will never take 1 minute to get up. So, in my opinion, there should be some parameter somewhere allowing the user to de/activate the "2 minutes sleep". [Bug 881079] Re: "Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration" at startup
Same problem here. I installed 1.3-0ubuntu11 from oneiric-proposed, but nothing changed. The delay was caused by the following lines of /etc/network/interfaces: auto dsl-provider iface dsl-provider inet ppp pre-up /sbin/ifconfig wlan0 up # line maintained by pppoeconf provider dsl-provider Indeed, the ppp connection relies on the wifi connection, which will be enabled *after*, by Network Mananger. I don't want to eliminate such lines. So, I have solved in this way: I removed all the "sleep" lines inside /etc/init/failsafe.conf. Now, everything works. Now, I ask you programmers: why all these "sleep"s? Why do you want to wait 2 minutes? I think, if the network is not up after few seconds, skip it, and boot up without network. [Bug 442288] [NEW] prolog-like commands correction
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bash This is just for the "wishlist". I have recently discovered a funny feature of Prolog: if you type a "wrong" command, the interpreter suggests you a correction: e.g. ?- hall. Correct to: "halt"? [Bug 423631] [NEW] mail notification applet doesn't change workspace
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Let Evolution lie in a workspace different from the current one. From the gnome bar, I click the mail notification applet, and a menu appears with the only possible choice "Evolution". I click it, and nothing happens. Conversely, if Evolution is in the current workspace, it correctly gets the focus. Using ubuntu 9.04. [Bug 386465] [NEW] dvi2ps creates a confusing title
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: texlive-base Situation: I compile a file somestuff.tex -> somestuff.dvi ->somestuff.ps using latex and dvi2ps. Then, I open somestuff.ps and in the title bar I see a strange title: "somestuff.dvi". This is very confusing. I don't know exactly which application creates the title "somestuff.dvi": maybe latex? or dvi2ps? In any case, I suggest that (i) latex could generate a more simple title "somestuff", or (ii) dvi2ps could correct any ".dvi" title into ".ps".
