[Bug 2071774] Re: zfs-dkms FTBFS on Linux 6.10/s390x

2024-07-17 Thread Paolo Pisati
Without a clear provenance (e.g. the patch doesn't go upstream) it might
look like we are just circumventing the GPL license: not an "ideal"
situation.

[Bug 2067391] [NEW] nvidia gpu problem after upgrading to 22.04

2024-05-28 Thread Paolo Benvenuto
Public bug reported:

my Lenovo ThinkBook has a nvidia RTX 3060 video card. The gpu was
working perfectly with ubuntu 22.04.

However, after upgrading to 24.04, clinfo reported 0 platforms.

I could solve the issue when I installed the linux headers. Actually,
without them, the nvidia module weren't compiled.

I remember that in 22.04 I had the headers installed. Apparently, when
upgrading the headers for the new kernel weren't installed.

[Bug 2065059] [NEW] kernel selftest powerpc/math:fpu_preempt constantly fails

2024-05-07 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

ubuntu_kernel_selftests.powerpc/math:fpu_preempt consistently fails on
ppc64el:

...
# timeout set to 45
# selftests: powerpc: fpu_preempt
# test: fpu_preempt
# tags: git_version:Ubuntu-6.8.0-32.32-0-g227b79edaa92
# Waiting for all workers to start...done
# Waiting for 60 seconds to let some workers get preempted...done
# Stopping workers...done
#
not ok 1 selftests: powerpc: fpu_preempt # TIMEOUT 45 seconds
...

[Fix]

Apply the attached fix to bump the timeout back to 300.

# timeout set to 300
# selftests: powerpc/math: fpu_preempt
# test: fpu_preempt
# tags: git_version:Ubuntu-6.8.0-32.32-0-g227b79edaa92
# Waiting for all workers to start...done
# Waiting for 60 seconds to let some workers get preempted...done
# Stopping workers...done
# success: fpu_preempt
ok 1 selftests: powerpc/math: fpu_preempt

[How to test]

Rerun the test after applying the fix.

[Regression potential]

None, we are just bumping the timeout for a single test.

[Bug 2060531] [NEW] Noble update: v6.8.3 upstream stable release

2024-04-08 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[__]pwq_activate_work()"
Revert "workqueue: Move nr_active handling into helpers"
Revert "workqueue: Make wq_adjust_max_active() round-robin pwqs while
activating"
Revert "workqueue: RCU protect wq->dfl_pwq and implement accessors for it"
Revert "workqueue: Introduce struct wq_node_nr_active"

2022-06-01 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[Bug 1973282] [NEW] Jammy update: v5.17.7 upstream stable release

2022-05-13 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

   v5.17.7 upstream stable release
   from git://git.kernel.org/
