[Bug 567412] [NEW] Regression: system cannot start with kernel 2.6.32-21
Public bug reported: After update from linux-image-2.6.32-20-generic to -21 version on Lucid beta2, system is no longer able to boot. Maybe it is graphic card driver related issue. Normal operation with kernel version -20: normal splash screen with prompt for decrypt root fs (i am using dm-crypt/luks), then GDM and etc. Wrong operation with kernel version -21: deformed splash screen with prompt for decrypt (see screenshot), then (after successful root fs decrypt) computer freeze totally - screen is black (backlight is on) keyboard is not responding (Caps, Num, Scroll lock), no harddisk activity, etc. I must turn it of with hw power switch. I tried to start without quiet and splash kernel boot parameters - system froze during transition between text and graphical mode. Disable KMS with nomodeset kernel boot parameter did not change anything. Unfortunately, there are no records written into log files during unsuccessful boot. ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Regression: system cannot start with kernel 2.6.32-21 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/567412 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The system crashes so hard, that even numlock doesn't blink (the keyboard doesn't work) and when the on/off button is pushed (which is the only way out), the system shuts down, even though normally, when I push this button, the system restarts itself. Another weird thing is that the screen sometimes disbands itself (?some graphics-related issue..?), last time the screen only went blank. And the (cpu) fan starts to work harder (is making more noise). [Bug 541834] [NEW] radeon KMS: jittery output with dual head
Public bug reported: using radeon KMS I get jittery/ wavy output on the external monitor(photo). It seems like the DAC or something is not configured correctly. [Bug 495687] Re: Ensure that Viewport switcher appearance matches the look and feel of the default theme(s)
As I was using that functionality a lot I do not agree with: "Edge flipping on move is disabled because (1) it can be triggered accidentally and confuse users, (2) it is a bit awkward to use, and (3) it's not symmetrical (it's disabled on the top edge because it is too easy to perform accidentally there)" (1) not really relevant without any numbers (2) personal opinion? again: tests/ numbers. (3) point, but in the default configuration ubuntu orders all desktops horizontally ;) so please take a closer look at this particular change -- Ensure that Viewport switcher appearance matches the look and feel of the default theme(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495687 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
