I have similar problem. Suddenly my networking stopped working. The problem was it could not assign the DNS servers, even when I typed them in the network manager. Finally I edited /etc/resolv.conf And even now when it is working I see the same thing: Error displaying connection information: No valid active connections found! I disabled all extensions, but the problem is still here. Same thing under firefox in safe mode. I'm beginning to think the issue is in my machine or drivers. I managed to continue the installation past this error with the following: (paste from my blog, honestly I had forgotten about this) "The way to fix it is to remove/disable all the non Ubuntu repositories, also all Gutsy non-official repositories.
