Re Testing in Jaunty/Ibex.
I will try but I am not hopeful.
These versions do not support my Marvell ethernet chip(skge driver), or my
Intel internet chip(e100 driver) properly and so I cannot get them to work
with my LAN. I have reported this bug months ago, as far back as Hardy in
fact, but never got an answer.
Thus I cannot really test since my printer is network attached.
Further I would need to test from the live-DVD since I am not about to
install a system that does not work.
But I will see what I can do.

Could you also please test the same with a newer package in Jaunty or
 Intrepid? Thanks in advance.

Status in “cups” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: evince

I have a network attached Lexmark Optra R+ printer. I have configured this
using CUPS as the default printer.
Other apps eg Firefox, gedit, openoffice etc. can print to this printer
 fine. Test pages work OK.
When I try to print a PDF from Evince, the printer starts up, but nothing
ever comes out and no jobs show up in the printer status monitor applet.

However using acroread to view and print the PDF works fine. This is the
same for all PDF's I have tried.

I don't know what error codes (if any) evince gives; there is no evidence
of a crash; evince continues to run, but there is no output.

[Bug 327511] [NEW] Alsa Mixer does not show a record Checkbox on any Audigy device

2009-02-09 Thread pgmer6809
Public bug reported:

Running ubuntu 7.1 (Gutsy).
I have internal sound chip which shows up properly in Gnome Alsa Mixer.
I have an add-on PCI card SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS.
The Alsamixer shows the many many Audigy devices, but does not have a Record
Checkbox attached to any of them; not to microphone, or line-in or line2-in
etc.
Per a ps -ef | grep d I am not running any pulse audio or jack daemons.

attached is a screen shot of the AlsaMixer. Note the name assigned to
the Audigy card; it inlcludes a comma. I think this generates other

record check-boxes on any device.

PS the reason I am still running Gutsy is because the Hardy and Ibex versions
will not properly work with my wired lan.
See my other bug report.
