add additional languages to kde in kubuntu 20.04

[Bug 1955701] Re: installer crashing wit "Could not restore packages from the previous install"

2021-12-27 Thread phm2f1alcw69
bug reports which seem to be related to the same problem have been arround
since 2012:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1040599

other more recent reports are:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1825355
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1896113

In some of the reports a connection to using preformatted partitions is
made. Though I always use manually created and preformatted partitions
as part of a lukslvm setup, and this now is the first time to encounter
this problem.

[Bug 1955704] Re: systemd/plymouth preventing reboot/shutdown

2021-12-26 Thread phm2f1alcw69
The report got assigned to systemd, since systemd is controlling the
whole startup and shutdown sequence. If there is some work to be done
fore plymouth as well, the respecting person taking care of that part
should be notified.

[Bug 1955704] [NEW] systemd/plymouth preventing reboot/shutdown

2021-12-24 Thread phm2f1alcw69
Public bug reported:

Plymouth seems to be busy with trying to show a "Halt" and also a "Reboot"
screen during shutdown, and in trying to do so preventing the actual shutdown
procedure to succeed. It even continues to do so after forcing the
shutdown/reboot procedure as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
Systemd then continues the show with waiting for an obscure kwin process, which
ceased to exist long before. Of course, systemctl doesn't work at this stage
any more either, so log files are useless.

p.s. after giving the two processes systemd & plymouth several minutes
to finish what they were claiming to do, I had tp pull the plug to end
this farce.

[Bug 1955701] Re: installer crashing wit "Could not restore packages from the previous install"

2021-12-24 Thread phm2f1alcw69
After the above posted error message the installer was able to leave
some last messages (cf. attachment) in the syslog before finally dying.

[Bug 1619128] [NEW] won't open attachments from mails opened for editing

2016-08-31 Thread phm2f1alcw69
Public bug reported:

Thunderbird refuses to open attachments from mails opened for editing.

Normally you can open attachments with a double click, either directly
with the respecting application or thunderbird will show a window asking
to set the application required to open the file.

But for mails which are just being edited, the result of a double click on the
attachment is different:
- though you can still open pictures
- double click on doc(x) files just shows a dialog about opening a file named
"nsmail.bin" (name does not depend on the attachment's original file name)
- double click on pdf files are being ignored (at least there is no reaction)

** Affects: thunderbird (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1505697] Re: subfolders for autostart missing

2015-10-14 Thread phm2f1alcw69
Thanks for your reply. One comments on this: AFAIU the command you
mentioned has to be run once to configure the input method but not every
time you want to start up fcitx.

[Bug 1505697] [NEW] subfolders for autostart missing

2015-10-13 Thread phm2f1alcw69
Public bug reported:

Trying to manually add programs (e.g. fcitx-autostart) to startup dialog
via KDE system settings fails because the ~/.local/share/applications/
folder is missing.

If this folder is missing it should be created by the system settings
startup dialog or even as generally existing folder at the time of the
user's first KDE startup.
