[Bug 1162216] Re: touchscreen does not tap - sometimes
I am using Kubuntu 22.04 and I have the same experience. It is always the same: when I start the machine it's fine. But after one- or a few minutes tap-to-click crashes. I recently discovered that I can bring tap-to-click back to life again by touching the touchscreen with my finger (try to start an app etc). Within a few seconds tap-to-click starts working again. And it often stays running very long. It feels as if two processes are hindering each other or so. And when that is over there are not so much problems anymore. I use the backports ppa and the plasma 5.25 beta ppa in the hope that the touchscreen would behave better that way, but it isn't. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1162216 Title: touchscreen does not tap - sometimes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1162216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was happy that you added ffmpeg5, I use it in my docker project, and it worked great. Got a GitHub actions notification that the build on Sunday failed. Got a similar problem with ubuntu:latest and ubuntu:focal as described. [Bug 335761]
I would very much love it when the window placement policy of Plasma got a little less jumpy. But if that is very hard to achieve (also under Wayland) I would like to make a suggestion: only very recent I discovered that once you close an application in ms windows (10) using the window control "x" while at the same time pressing the Shift-key, it will from then on remember the size and position of that specific window. I find that quite practical. That could be a temporary solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335761 Title: Placement policy 'Remember' by default for all windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/335761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 335761]
Or, to take my thought in the previous comment (72) a little further: perhaps there could be a preference "remember window size and position" that made kwin automatically save a "window rule" when an app is closed. And in this "window rule" size and position were to be saved. That way the user wouldn't have to bother about the shortcut Shift-close. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335761 Title: Placement policy 'Remember' by default for all windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/335761/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1916409] [NEW] Hifiberry ADC no longer works with jack after update
Public bug reported: I have a raspberry PI configured, with a hifiberry DAC+ ADC PRO. It has Ubuntu 20.10 installed, and worked fine, until I ran apt-get upgrade today. alsaloop still works, but it is impossible to get jackd to start and accept clients. It will give errors on startup. I booted with another SD-card, and everything ran fine. To confirm the problem was the kernel and firmware, I booted the kernel from the old sd-card, and the OS from the other. Everything is back to working fine again. so, there seems to be an issue with the hifiberry overlay on a raspberry pi here. It seems to be still possible to start at 48Khz and 512 samples buffer, but that's not a good idea - way too much latency. [Bug 1720126] [NEW] [ip link] Message truncated error for large number of passthrough VFs
Public bug reported: I've ran into an issue when creating a large number of virtual functions on a SR-IOV capable device. ip link show reports a message truncated error: ip link show > /dev/null Message truncated Message truncated Message truncated A likely cause might be that when called in a system where the number of PCIe Virtual Functions are more than 30 for a given Physical Function, the netlink response is larger than 16K, meaning that a message is truncated. This problem stems from the inclusion of the fix for CVE-2015-5180. The internal number for A + changed in glibc (from T_UNSPEC=62321 to T_QUERY_A_AND_=439963904). [Bug 1555606] Re: Sync pdns-recursor 4.0.0~alpha2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Hi Timo, I'm Pieter Lexis, one of the PowerDNS developers. > to provide more information about the upgrade I'll chime in on the reason for this. In the current state, the pdns-recursor package in Xenial is not fit for production use (let alone inclusion in an LTS). Several of the issues include: - Configuring forwarding results in SIGABRT (fixed in https://github.com/pieterlexis/pdns/commit/88490c0365375978afea38bf352079b4fef28e17) - RPZ and IXFR with TSIG is broken (fixed in https://github.com/pieterlexis/pdns/commit/bd051ad662f10373bb8f3e13a55cbec3f6ebc91c and https://github.com/pieterlexis/pdns/commit/f0ca9bcf2800bb31513283bbe9fa5d1e2b83dcf6) - The cache would fill the memory with stale entries (fixed in https://github.com/rgacogne/pdns/commit/2b94bb415eb33d909e064cadea06a7c2fcea7380) Combined with the fact that DNSSEC validation has many broken cornercases in Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 (but the Debian package has disabled the validation as per our recommendation), we believe that the package suggested is many times better than the package currently in Xenial. We released this Alpha 2 because of the Ubuntu freeze, as Ubuntu originally pulled in the Alpha 1 from Debian Sid. We contacted devel- discuss, but got little response regarding our suggested solutions (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel- discuss/2016-February/016183.html). I hope this answers your questions regarding why we'd like a freeze exception. The only other solution (in our eyes as upstream) is to have Xenial revert to the Recursor 3.7.3, which might go EOL before Xenial does. [Bug 1543194] Re: [HP Compaq 6720s] Fan at full speed after suspend
Luckily there are workarounds for this issue for both the old situation(1) and systemd(2). 1) In the old situation (Trusty Tahr - upstart) I found the following remedy that works like a charm: Make a file with the following content (just the way I found in on the internet) read further below the quote: bash script: #!/bin/sh # # Reset fan speeds after resume, otherwise they blow at maximum speed # # Used as work-around for ACPI kernel bug 58301 # https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58301 # # The idea for this fix was taken from # http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1761370 # # Author: fr...@qnipp.com # # To be made executable (sudo chmod 755 AnyName.sh and then to be saved as /etc/pm/sleep.d/AnyName.sh case "$1" in thaw|resume) for i in /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device* ; do type=`cat $i/type` if [ "$type" = "Fan" ] ; then echo 0 > $i/cur_state fi done ;; esac 2) But things are changed with systemd. After a proces of trial and error I found the following: step one: Create a file with the following content (read further below quote) : bash script: #!/bin/sh # make this file executable (chmod 755 NameFile.sh) # copy this file to folder /lib/systemd/system-sleep/ if [ $1 = post ] && [ $2 = suspend ] then /usr/local/bin/fansystemd.sh fi step two: Then create a file with the following content: bash script: #!/bin/sh # # Reset fan speeds after resume, otherwise they blow at maximum speed # # Used as work-around for ACPI kernel bug 58301 # https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58301 # # The idea for this fix was taken from # http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1761370 # # Author: fr...@qnipp.com # # make file exectable (sudo chmod 755 NameFile.sh) # To be saved as /usr/local/bin/ (sudo cp NameFile.sh /usr/local/bin/) # this is like the upstart-script only without the first lines for i in /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device* ; do type=`cat $i/type` if [ "$type" = "Fan" ] ; then echo 0 > $i/cur_state fi done ;; esac Make file exectable (sudo chmod 755 NameFile.sh), save as as /usr/local/bin/NameFile.sh (sudo cp NameFile.sh /usr/local/bin/). This is like the upstart-script only without the first lines.
