This has been a problem since edgy. 'mc' works perfectly well in 'gnome- terminal' and 'xterm' which are the two x-terminals I tried. I use to have 'mc' inside the 'gnome-multi-terminal' as my work hub even since before switching to Ubuntu. There seems to be a problem in the way 'mc' handles the graphic characters to represent the edges. Switching to a text terminal with 'ctrl-alt-fn' shows the same problem handling the edges even there. Trying 'mc -a' to use sticks instead does not solve the problem in any case either. I keep a copy of 'mc_4.6.0-4.6.1-pre4-2-i386.deb' which was the last mc to handle the graphic edges in all terms. I am unable to solve this, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
