[Bug 1848318] [NEW] [DELL][BIONICS] Observed firmware assert during backgroung scan.

2019-10-16 Thread Ganapathi Raju Kondraju
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:
--

Impact:
---
Observed firmware assert(non responsive state) just 2 min after
connection.

Test case:
--
  1) Power up the device, Redpine modules are loaded by default, Nmcli
initiates the connection and device starts background scan after connection.
After 2-3 min issue will be replicated.

Result:
---
Observed firmware assert while performing background scan.

Root cause analysis:

There is a redundant null check for ssid info while preparing
probe request in background scan case, which blocks the probe request pkt
length update, leads to assert no-71(if probe-req-length is 0 or greater
the max probe length 120) in firmware.

Fix:

   Removed the redundant null check.

Regression Potential:
-
This is observed just 2 min after connection, fixed and checked the
driver stability. Every thing ran smooth.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

Workaround:

This seems to have worked for me:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/618389/trying-to-overwrite-usr-share-accounts-services-google-im-service-which-is

Specifically, I did this:

sudo apt remove unity-scope-gdrive account-plugin-google
account-plugin-facebook kde-telepathy-minimal kde-telepathy
 and then install continued.

There is no scroll bar to scroll horizontally or vertically.

2014-03-28 Thread Jobin Raju George
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1291365 ***

I am not sure whether this is a duplicate of bug #1291365, since I
don't have to unlock twice after I have locked the screen, but only if
it is suspended; these are two completely different scenarios.

Looks like this bug is actually not a linux bug, since after doing an
upgrade I am facing the same issue- have to login twice, even though the
kernel version is the same.

[Bug 1279012] Re: Online search behind proxy does not return results

2014-03-26 Thread Jobin Raju George
I can confirm that this bug **does not** persist on linux kernel version
3.14.0-031400rc8-generic.

[ Steps taken to confirm the bug does not persist on 3.14 ]

1) Downloaded linux-headers from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
headers-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

and linux-image from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

2) Installed linux-image using

sudo dpkg -i linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

3) Rebooted

4) Confirm that I am on 3.14 using

uname -a

which returns

Linux stepup 3.14.0-031400rc8-generic #201403242335 SMP Tue Mar 25
03:36:22 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

5) Put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid, which triggers suspension.

6) Resume from sleep after about 5 minutes.

7) Unlock screen using my password and wait to check if it locks again.

8) Voila, it doesn't lock for at least an hour. Have been waiting to see
if it does still ;-)

[Bug 1296554] Re: bluetooth settings not remembered on reboot

2014-03-25 Thread Jobin Raju George
Running

apport-collect 1296554

asks me to install bluez-hcidum, which I did. But then it asked me to
run

sudo hcidump -XYt $HOME/hci.log

and reproduce the bug which I can't since I'll have to reboot.

[Bug 1296270] Re: Have to login twice after suspending

2014-03-25 Thread Jobin Raju George
I shut the lid of my laptop which triggers suspension. When I re-open
the lid, it resumes from suspend. I guest suspend is not triggered a
second time since the wake-up time is way too less for even suspend to
be triggered let alone the resumption.

[Bug 1296554] Re: bluetooth settings not remembered on reboot

2014-03-25 Thread Jobin Raju George
I can confirm that this bug persists on linux kernel version
3.14.0-031400rc8-generic.

[ Steps taken to confirm the bug persist on 3.14 ]
1) Downloaded linux-headers from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-headers-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

and linux-image from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc8-trusty/linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

2) Installed linux-image using

sudo dpkg -i linux-
image-3.14.0-031400rc8-generic_3.14.0-031400rc8.201403242335_amd64.deb

3) Rebooted

4) Confirm that I am on 3.14 using

uname -a

which returns

Linux stepup 3.14.0-031400rc8-generic #201403242335 SMP Tue Mar 25
03:36:22 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

5) Switched off bluetooth using indicator. Bluetooth is now off.

6) Rebooted to the same kernel version

7) Checked if bluetooth was on- it was on.

[Bug 1293445] Re: computer needs to restart should have a user defined timer to ask next time

2014-03-24 Thread Jobin Raju George
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

Whenever an update that needs a restart happens, a windows pops up saying
this:
The computer needs to restart to finish installing updates. This has three
options: 1) Settings 2) 2) Restart later and 3) Restart Now...

If the restart later option is selected, this dialog box pops up back
in around 10 minutes- the user has no control over this timing.

Rather than this, the restart later should have a different option
like Remind me in xx minutes and the timer should be user-defined.

[Bug 1295794] Re: nautilus opens a new window if clicked on its unity icon even when another nautilus window is open with ntfs drive folder open

2014-03-24 Thread Jobin Raju George
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

I could not make the title shorter and clearer, please forgive.

  How to reproduce this bug:

On a freshly booted system running Ubuntu 14.04 having unity as its
desktop-manager and having at least one NTFS partition on its internal
  hard disk, do the following:

  1) Open a nautilus window and mount an NTFS partition and keep any of the
folders on the NTFS partition open in this window.
  2) Now open any other application(I opened firefox) and then go back to the
nautilus window by pressing on nautilus' unity icon(which should have a small
arrow to the left of the nautilus icon, indicating it is already open). Do not
use Alt+Tab to go back to nautilus- this works fine.

  3) This will open a new nautilus window with the home folder(or
whichever is the default path to open when a new nautilus window is
opened) and bring the originally opened folder on the NTFS partition.

  What I expected to happen?

Clicking on an already opened nautilus window will open(bring to
foreground) the folder on the NTFS partition.

  What actually happened?

A new window with my home folder as its default opening path, opened,
giving me two nautilus windows opened.

[Bug 1279012] Re: Online search behind proxy does not return results

2014-03-24 Thread Jobin Raju George
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

I am behind my college authenticated proxy which I have configured in
  `~/.bashrc` file as follows:

  export proxy=http://username:password@host:port_no/
  export http_proxy=http://username:password@host:port_no/
  export ftp_proxy=ftp://username:password@host:port_no/
  export https_proxy=https://username:password@host:port_no/

  export SOCKS_PROXY=socks://username:password@host:port_no/
  export no_proxy=localhost,127.0.0.1,127.0.1.1

I did not find any configuration file for dash in which I can configure
proxy. However, I am not able to perform online search videos on youtube
for which I have installed lens using the instructions given here:
  http://askubuntu.com/a/91381/72576

I expected to get video results from youtube but no results were
  obtained.

I posted a question on AskUbuntu but did not get answers, which I
believe is because this is a bug- a feature request.

[Bug 1295794] [NEW] nautilus opens a new window if clicked on its unity icon even when another nautilus window is open with ntfs drive folder open

2014-03-21 Thread Jobin Raju George
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1295330] [NEW] safely remove option not available when external hard disk is mouted before powering on device

2014-03-20 Thread Jobin Raju George
Public bug reported:

I have a 1TB external hard-disk which I usually keep attached to my
laptop. It is noticed that when if I want to remove my external hard-
disk safely from the laptop I find the Safely remove option only if I
had not attached it before booting up.

lsb_release -a

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release:14.04
Codename: trusty

500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What did I expect to happen?
Whenever I attach an external hard-disk to my laptop, the option to Safely
Remove Drive should always be present.

What actually happened?
1) If I mounted the external hard-disk before I powered on my laptop, the
option to Safely Remove Device is not present.

2) If I mounted the external hard-disk after logging into my account,
the option to Safely Remove Device is present.

[Bug 1294629] [NEW] Brightness suddenly increases and becomes full on Ubuntu 14.04

2014-03-19 Thread Jobin Raju George
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit desktop on HP 630. After the OS is booted
and is ready, the brightness is full and I reduce it to its minimum
value. After about 5 minutes, the brightness becomes full again. I can
manually change the brightness again, and it does change even now and
persist once the brightness has been changed the second time.

What I expected to happen?

The brightness once reduced should never change untill I change it
manually.

What acutally happens?

After the machine is booted, the brightness is full, I change its value
to minimum and after about 5 minutes the brightness again becomes full.

[Bug 1293445] [NEW] computer needs to restart should have a user defined timer to ask next time

2014-03-17 Thread Jobin Raju George
Public bug reported:

Whenever an update that needs a restart happens, a windows pops up saying this:
The computer needs to restart to finish installing updates. This has three
options: 1) Settings 2) 2) Restart later and 3) Restart Now...

If the restart later option is selected, this dialog box pops up back
in around 10 minutes- the user has no control over this timing.

Rather than this, the restart later should have a different option
like Remind me in xx minutes and the timer should be user-defined.

[Bug 1290520] [NEW] Cannot stop installing a new emulator device

2014-03-10 Thread Jobin Raju George
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce this bug:

Open ubuntu-sdk. When the windows opens up, go to Devices - Emulators
and press OK. The progress bar oscillates for a while untill all
packages are downloaded and installed.

What did I expect:

I would have a stop button wherein I could cancel downloading or
installing the packages before all the packages have been
downloaded/installed.

Possible solution:

Keep a Cancel button, so that the user can press which will result in
cancelling downloading/installing the packages.
