[Bug 1465183] Re: ubuntu 15.04 dhcp: option routers and option rfc3442-classless-static-routes

2015-11-24 Thread renard
I can confirm I hit the same bug in a full Linux environment.
- server: 4.2.4-7ubuntu12.3
- client: 4.3.1-5ubuntu4

All clients (+500 hosts) in 4.2.4-7ubuntu12.3 work like a charm.

I cannot understand why this had changed. Any planned date to resolve this
issue?

Thanks.

[Bug 1116459] [NEW] Fn + Alt + Print not working but all the keys are OK

2013-02-05 Thread Renard Voß
Public bug reported:

recently I did a fresh install of xubuntu 12.10 on my HP Notebook and
now I discovered that Fn+Alt+Print (in german: Fn+Alt+Druck) isn't
working anymore.

With Fn+Print (Fn+Druck) I'm able to make srceenshots of the hole
screen, the Alt-Key is working, too (I'm not having any problems with
Atl+F2 or other combinations with the Alt-Key) and the shortcut
AltPrint is assigned to the command xfce-screenshooter -w.

So everything should be OK and Fn+Alt+Print should take a screenshot of
the active windows.

But if i press Fn+Alt+Print nothing happens instead.

Now I take my windows screenshots by Alt+F2 + xfce4-screenshooter -w but
this is of course less comfortable.

[Bug 1105159] [NEW] webbrowser can't handle spaces in html-filenames or paths

2013-01-25 Thread Renard Voß
Public bug reported:

Recently I installed xubuntu 12.10 which uses of course the Webbrowser
to open html-files.

In the end Webbrowser opens firefox, but obviously not directly,
because if I try to open html-files which contain spaces in the filename

[Bug 759234] Re: can't click on buttons in firefox 4

2011-05-11 Thread Renard Voß
During the last days I I got the feeling that the problem is not limited
to firefox 4. I noticed that sometimes ubuntu doesn't react directly
when I'm using the mouse or touchpad. Sometimes I have to repeat two or
three times, what I wanted to do (e.g. move a Window with the Mouse).

And now I found out that Im not the only one who has these problems.
Look here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1747222

(and eventually here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-
themes/+bug/741112)

A workaround might be to autoremove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, see
page 3 of the above mentioned thread:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1747222page=3

I didn't try this out, because I'd like to wait for removal of the bug
instead. Hopefully it will be there very soon, because this bug is
extremely annoying.

[Bug 759234] Re: can't click on buttons in firefox 4

2011-05-07 Thread Renard Voß
I'm having similar problems with Firefox 4 under Ubuntu 11.04.

Nearly every second button/link/text box can't be clicked/used and
sometimes buttons/links/boxes can only be clicked/used in some parts of
the button, box or underlined text. Sometimes it help to scroll down
and up again on the same site, sometimes I have to reload the page (and,
finally, very often I have to use Opera, which works perfectly under
11.04).

[Bug 704930] [NEW] liferea seems to crahs often when ran under Xvnc

2011-01-19 Thread Yann Renard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: liferea

I use liferea daily, sometimes on Xorg, sometimes on Xvnc or Xtightvnc.
I have no issue under Xorg but it crashes 10 times a day on Xvnc, mostly
when pressing the next unread item button or manually refreshing a
feed.

When running in console with --debug-all, the following backtrace
appeared :

[Bug 692947] [NEW] Internal Ricoh R5C822 Card Reader recognizes SD-Cards only after suspend/resume or restart

2010-12-21 Thread Renard Voß
Public bug reported:

I own a HP DV9812EG Notebook with an integrated Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822
SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 22).

Unfortunately it does very often not recognize my SD cards directly.

In order to recognize an inserted SD card I have to suspend and resume
the notebook.

Then the card(-reader) get immediately recognized.

This workaround works with restart, too.

But both solutions are not very comfortable!

I'm not unsing the Internal Ricoh R5C822 Card Reader every day and
therefore I couldn't say exactly when the problem arose, but I think it
came up with the upgrade to Maverick 10.10. And eventually it has
something to do with the hibernate/resume process, because I'm usually
hibernating my notebook.

Thus, probably it is a bug in the Kernel.

Unfortunately I don't now which information would be needed to find the
reason of this problem.

I hope that the informations that have been collected automaticly by
ubuntu and this result can give a hint, where the problem could come
from:

[Bug 577136] Re: package bcmwl-kernel-source 5.60.48.36+bdcom-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: bcmwl kernel module failed to build

2010-05-21 Thread Renard Voß
I'm having the same problem with Lucid and Kernel 2.6.34.

First I installed Kernel 2.6.34 RC7 on Saturday, then Kernel 2.6.34
final yesterday an now Kernel 2.6.34-999 today (with the daily builds
released on 20th and 21st May) [I got all versions from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/].

After the installation of Kernel 2.6.34 my Broadcom WLAN Card doesn't
work neither with Kernel 2.6.34 nor Kernel 2.6.32. Directly after the
first restart after the Kernel Update Ubuntu tells me that the package
bcmwl-kernel-source could not be installed/updated.

And if I try to install it manually ubuntu tells me to look at
/var/log/jockey.log for details (see attachment)

After the deinstallation of Kernel 2.6.34 the Broadcom-Drivers restart
working with Kernel 2.6.32.

2010-05-21 Thread Renard Voß
Good to know that somebody seems to know where's the problem.

Unfortunately the Mainline Kernel 2.6.34 for Lucid (which I'd like to
keep on using) doesn't work with Broadcom WLAN cards.

Look here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/577136

That's why I didn't even try to compile the above mentioned 2.6.34-rc7
based Maverick's kernel.

Does somebody know if there will be a Kernel release for Lucid with the
fix for our HDMI problem and working Braodcom STA drivers?

[Bug 534370] Re: fdisk -l doesn't list damaged hdd but palimpsest does

2010-03-26 Thread Renard Voß
I've done everything you aks me to do and here is the result:

This time my PC recognized the damaged HDD as sdb, while another HDD was
sdc.

This picture shows the results of palimpsest of fdisk -l and fdisk -l
/dev/sdb:

http://picfront.org/d/7wlN

...and it shows nearly the same result: palimpsest shows sdb and fdisk
doesn't display any information about it.

Then I've executed the dmesg command and got (of course) a vry long
result. Probably to long be displayed completely in the terminal.
Everything that was displayed will be attached to this message.

Afterwards I copied the dmesg log from /var/log and I'll attach it here,
too (but I've to mention that this log file is already some days old).

OK, thanks and good luck ;)

Hello Simon!

Thanks for your comment!

How did you connect your ALSA bug report to this one?

I would like to do the same with the ALSA bug report I opened
simultaneously with my launchpad report.

My ALSA bug report can be found here:

https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=4589

... but it has been ignored by the ALSA developers, too.

And only to let everybody know:

Some time ago I upgraded to Karmic, but the HDMI sound problem is still
there.

My actual config is:

ALSA 1.0.22
Kernel 2.6.31-16

NVIDIA Linux x64 Driver 190.53

[Bug 389494] [NEW] No HDMI Sound with Jaunty 9.04, Kernel 2.6.30, ALSA 1.0.20, Conexant CX20561 nvidia MCP65 HD Audio (Geforce 8400M GS)

2009-06-19 Thread Renard Voß
Public bug reported:

I did a fresh install of jaunty on my HP DV9812EG Notebook, but HDMI
Audio out isn't working.

In the beginning i had ALSA Version 1.0.18 installed, which came with
Ubuntu 9.04. Even tough the lastest proprietary geforce driver (NVIDIA-
Linux-x86_64-185.18.14-pkg2.run) seems to work properly, there was no
HDMI sound. Thus, I updated to the lastest Kernel 2.6.30 (official
release, no RC) and ALSA 1.0.20, but it didn't change anything. The HDMI
device can't be recognized even tough it should be there.

ALSA 1.0.20 was configured with the following command:

./configure --with-cards=all --with-card-options=all --with-
sequencer=yes  make

Under Windows Vista Everest finds the following soundcard and HD Audio
Modem:

Conexant Cx20561 @ nVIDIA MCP65 - High Definition Audio Controller
Modem HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP

hwinfo --short under ubuntu 9.04 confirms this, but aplay -l list
only these two audio devices (it should be three at least):

So what's missing is something like this:

Karte 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], Gerät 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]

aplay -L shows this result:

So again there is missing something like:

hdmi:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0

HDMI Audio Output

I even tried to go back to ALSA 1.0.19 but it is not possible to
./configure the original alsa-driver package (there was an error, but i
don't remember which). As an alternative i tried to install the linuxant
deb-version of ALSA (alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.20.3_all.deb) and the
realtek version (realtek-linux-audiopack-5.11) but both versions didn't
work.

So this must be a bug, because everything else works fine (e.g. HDMI
Video out, Laptop Speakers, Ear-Plug-Audio out...)

Unfortunately, to find and eliminate the bug, I can contribute only with
some other information:

Thank you for classifing my bug report. I have not been sure how to
classify it, because it could be a bug of ALSA, of the Nvidia graphics
driver or in the Linux Kernel.

Is there something else I could do to ensure that the proper
developers would take a look at it?

[Bug 300031] [NEW] 8.04 - kernel 2.6.24-18 up to 21 : domU crash with java

2008-11-19 Thread Jean-Luc Renard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-xen

Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

Package : linux-image-2.6.24-18-xen (2.6.24-18.32) up to 26.24-21-xen
(2.6.24-21.43)

I have a zimbra server running in a domU over Ubuntu 8.04.
I use kernel from 2.6.24-18.32 for dom0 and DomU up to 2.6.24-21.43.
The higher level is the kernel, the most frequent is the issue.

After some time running (from 18h up to 36h), the following kernel error
occur :

[Bug 92416] Re: slapd do not start

2007-06-26 Thread Richard Renard
This bug was caused by the fact that slapd runs as user openldap and /var/run
is not writable by anyone but root.
Now in gutsy the pidfile and argsfile are under /var/run/slapd, which is owned
by openldap:openldap.

afaik this bug is no more for gusty.

also one should make sure that the init script takes care to do some
chowns in case slapd is run as root for debugging purpose, ie if entries
are added while debugging and slapd runs as root, database files will be
owned by root, and the next start with the initscript will eventually
fail.

[Bug 106418] Re: 2.6.20-15 still won't boot

2007-04-14 Thread Richard Renard
I have the problem: 2.6.20-(14|15) do not boot.
My hard drive is a SATA one so devices are already sdx.
2.6.20-13 boots fine.

all i can see is that the computer freezes while setting up sata stuff
(at the kernel level, removed quiet and splash in grub cli), it's at
approx. 3 secs after grub.

Is there any options that i can give to the kernel to get more infos ?
debug or something ?

btw, I tried the libata.ignore_hpa=0 and it did not work.

2.6.20-15.25 did the job, it works now

[Bug 75224] Re: Beryl says it c aught deadly signal 11

2006-12-12 Thread renard
I ever installed beryl-0.1.2, run xgl from gdm login, and tried beryl-manager,
beryl-xgl reported as caught deadly signal 11 as askhay,
Just now I update to 0.1.3 and repeat the same error again.
I use Merom structure (Intel core 2 duo), Can bery work on it?

The additional warning is emerald says file libemeraldengine.so.0 missing.
On updating, package manager reports that libemerald want to overwrite a file
which belongs to package emerald. Maybe it causes the warning.

moment later, all of the icons disappear! On my preceding dapper,
network worked correctly all the time!

Sorry for my English, I am initial student.

[Bug 61198] Login screen bug

2006-09-18 Thread sir renard
Public bug reported:

Hy,

I have the most wonderful distro (Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper) installed on my PC
HP P4 3.2 whit an ATI X1600XT PCI-Express video card. I use Gnome
2.14.3 desktop manager.

When i'm log-in or log-off, the login-screen appaer correctly. If i use
the left mouse button and than clic anywhere on the background behind
the login box, and i try to move this. The Login screen go to shacking
and warping. At this time, is not possible to see any them, the login
screen is scramble. Finaly, i'm obliged to using the reset button for
rebooting and see the login screen now correctly. It's ok if not trying
to move the background theme.

P.S. Sorry for my poor english, i'm a french user and i try to explain
to you in my words whit an english dictionnary!!! :-)

Thank's for you're indulgence and you're great work.

Regard's
