Hmm, this doesn't fix it. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=507391 says it was an issue with compiler optimization. You might also check how it was fixed in the above mentioned Debian package. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #507391 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=507391 -- Broken pxe-e1000.bin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617316 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 617316] [NEW] Broken pxe-e1000.bin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: etherboot This affects package kvm-pxe (5.4.4-1ubuntu1) in lucid and is already mentioned in Bug #570870. Trying a KVM PXE boot with model=e1000 results in the following error message: Searching for server (DHCP)No IP address The message is repeated infinitely. Using a different nic model, an IP address is obtained, and booting works. The Debian unstable ROM (e1000-82540em.rom) in etherboot-qemu_5.4.4-6_all.deb works. [Bug 570870] Re: pxe boot doesn't work with kvm
Well, this is not the problem I've been talking about. The actual ROM file for e1000 (pxe-e1000.bin) is broken, and doesn't allow booting over PXE (Searching for server (DHCP)No IP address see #3). -- pxe boot doesn't work with kvm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 570870] Re: pxe boot doesn't work with kvm
Why is there still no fix for the broken pxe-e1000.bin in lucid kvm-pxe? The Debian unstable ROM (e1000-82540em.rom) in etherboot- qemu_5.4.4-6_all.deb works. [Bug 518813] [NEW] Cut Paste from KDE apps fails
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu 9.10, cutpaste stopped working for me between KDE and Non- KDE applications. To be more precise: I am talking about the standard X11 cutpaste mechanism where you select with the left button of the mouse, and paste with the middle button. The effect is pretty strange. Best example is from konsole: I can cutpaste between different konsoles but nut cut in a konsole and paste e.g. in firefox or emacs. On the other hand, I can cut in Emacs/Firefox and paste in the konsole or other KDE applications. So it is pasting out of KDE to Non-KDE applications which is not working. However even pasting to a different KDE application from say konsole doesn't work anymore. This problem started after the upgrade from jaunty to karmic. To make things even more complicated: Sometimes things work allright for some time after a fresh login, and sometimes it doesn't work right from the start. I tried different KDE versions from the backport repo up to the current 4.3.5, but none of them work. One slight complication of my setup: I am working in a x2go (version 3.0.1). [Bug 98783] Re: MASTER: memory leak
Michael == Michael Milligan mi...@acmeps.com writes: Michael Another data point. I'm having the same overall issue Michael using the radeonhd driver on my laptop, so there may or Michael may not really be an issue with leaks in the nvidia Michael driver. It sure seems to be related to firefox and flash Michael content as the memory usage of the xorg process ramps up Michael when I run firefox (1.5.x thru 3.0.5) and ramps up Michael exponentially faster for pages that have flash content. Michael Killing/quiting firefox frees up a lot of memory, but not Michael from Xorg's overall total. It has behaved like this (for Michael me) for the past couple of years. Only reason it's not a Michael big deal for me is I'm constantly having suspend/resume Michael issues since the 7.10 release, so uptime never exceeds a Michael couple of weeks anymore. :( Hmm, thinking about this makes it pretty clear to me know. It really must be firefox + flash. My firefox on x86 recently also acquired about 1.5GB of RAM with the X server running at more than 2GB. Killing the firefox instance also released quite a lot of RAM from the X server. But more importantly: As reported earlier, I don't have the problem on my amd64 desktop at work. And guess what! I don't have a flash plugin running for my firefox there. So please debugger folks. Test along these lines, and I am almost certain you will find the real cause of this. Bryce == Bryce Harrington br...@bryceharrington.org writes: Bryce Comment #11 is a good summary of the situation. Currently, Bryce none of the comments on this bug provide sufficient Bryce information to do troubleshooting. Memory usage problems Bryce tend to be very hard to debug, especially when they cannot Bryce be reproduced independently. Sure, I'm aware of that. Bryce For people using the -nvidia driver, you're almost entirely Bryce out of luck - the binary proprietary -nvidia driver Bryce replaces pretty large swaths of the xserver's internals Bryce with its own code, so debugging issues with that driver are Bryce almost always futile. If the bug is sufficiently well Bryce reported, it could be forwarded to -nvidia, but so far not Bryce enough has been provided. What additional information do you require?
