Re: [Bug 778168] Missing required logs.
Hi, You requested the following - which I then performed. I also set the status to "New" Your response was to issue the message again and reset the status to Incomplete. Why ? The original bug reporter seems not to be subscribed - so he won't do it. The problem appears to be resolved with a more recent kernel. [Bug 627672] Re: [Maverick Beta] install from USB stuck retrieving files 2/6 Hp Mini
I am now up and running with the release candidate. Hurrah ! There is still a problem for users who create their USB boot disk using an older (than Maverick) release with usb-creator - as I did. On booting from the USB disk one receives the message "Unknown keyword in configuration file". The problem is described at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1546737 The solution proposed there - to remove "ui " from the last line of /syslinux/syslinux.cfg - worked for me. -- [Maverick Beta] install from USB stuck retrieving files 2/6 Hp Mini https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/627672 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, I tried the daily build of 20100904 and wrote the ISO to a USB stick using Unetbootin, but on booting, it would go no further than trying to get the CDROM drivers and eventually I just had to abort. My mistake. The sound level for an aif file is remembered by the movie player rather than the firefox plugin. [Bug 555465] Re: sound preferences for Movie browser plugin not remembered
Thank you. It does help to execute the comand gconftool --type int --set /apps/totem/volume 100 as recommended for https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527432 - but now the volume is set to 100 as the default - so if one adjusts the volume to, say, 50 then the next time one plays an MP3 it starts at 100 again. This seems to be in contrast to the behaviour when one plays an aif file - for example http://www.mandarintools.com/sounds/wo3.aif - the volume for this filetype is (and was before) remembered. -- sound preferences for Movie browser plugin not remembered https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555465 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 482505] Re: External USB Disk does not automatically mount at boot (worked in Jaunty, not in Karmic).
I don't believe that this is fixed yet. I have Ubuntu Lucid Beta which was up to date yesterday. When I plug in a flash drive or an NTFS volume, the lights on the device flash but it does not appear is the list of "Places". In order to make it work I have added the following 3 lines to /etc/rc.local #use lspci |grep -i ehci to determine PCI device number of EHCI controller #use result (00:1d.7) in command below echo -n ":00:1d.7" /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind I used those instructions because I found them at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1307542&page=6 (entry #57) I am using an Acer Aspire One - but the same problem exists using an Asus PC with Karmic. Perhaps this problem is slightly different to the one described above - but in my opinion it is a show stopper ! -- External USB Disk does not automatically mount at boot (worked in Jaunty, not in Karmic). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482505 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After that song is finished I click on a new mp3 (or the same one) - but I have to go through the same process again to hear the new song. [Bug 355857] [NEW] [Jaunty] DWL-G122 wireless not visible in Network Connections
Public bug reported: I have a D-Link DWL-G122 Wireless G USB adapter (which is advertised on the box "Works with Linux"). If I plug it into a system running Intrepid, I can see the wireless networks I expect. If I plug it into the same system running Jaunty, nothing is visible in the Wireless section of System->Preferences->Network Connections. This problem occurs on several systems - Acer Aspire One and a home built Asus system. On Intrepid lshw - C Network, last line is "configuration: broadcast=yes multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11g" On Jaunty lshw - C Network, last line is "configuration: broadcast=yes multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bg" I use this adapter on the Acer Aspire One (Intrepid) where it sees networks (Spanish Telephonica) which are invisible to the native ath5k device. I am using kernel Linux 2.6.27-3-generic (that's what System Monitor says). With that kernel (from Intrepid Alpha 6), I can boot providing my system has been powered off for some time (shall we say a minute). [Bug 279186] Re: kernel oops on boot with "quiet" option
Luka: I only get kernel panics during the boot. Sometimes the system will stop during the boot while the Ubuntu process screen is being displayed. I'm not sure if that is a "panic" - but usually I get a screenfull of messages when the problem occurs prior to the Ubuntu process screen. I also see the problem if I do a "restart" of the system - like after updates have been applied. My system has been running all night using bittorrent without a problem - and I'm typing this on it now. Thanks for your suggestions regarding the kernel. For completeness I should say that the changes I made to my bios settings seem not to be permanent: Booting from USB - seemed to be lost - as did automatically starting after a power failure. I have one of these boards also. I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 6 - x64. I get kernel panics if I power off and then power on again within, say, 30 seconds. If I wait before rebooting, the system comes up fine. Once, I saw a diagnostic to the effect that there had been a thermal problem - but I can hardly believe this as the system runs really cool - though I suppose that the heatsink(s) may be badly mounted.
