[Bug 297286] [NEW] install of removed packages at upgrade
Public bug reported: I removed open office (word processor spreadsheet etc etc) in 8.04. Today I upgraded to 8.10 and suddenly these packages were reinstalled. This is inco, rrect behaviour, an upgrade should only upgrade existing / related packages. If there are packages that are deliberately uninstalled these should not be reinstalled. If there are new applications available that could improve the user experience for the user the user should be asked during the upgrade if he would like to install them. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- install of removed packages at upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297286 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I used to had the same problem however I upgraded to 7.10 (tribe 5 via a dist-upgrade) and re-ran the configure of X. Also I switched to xubuntu, since then the proper resolution is available ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and usable. However I do not know if this is due to the upgrade to 7.10 or my switch to xubuntu I will try to figure that out.
