[Bug 1631123] [NEW] package libpam-systemd:i386 229-4ubuntu10 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 128

2016-10-06 Thread robert george
Public bug reported:

Although the automatic bug report above refers to systemd, the situation I
experienced was different.
I was allowing the automatic updates to proceed, and the small panel which
shows progress was stuck at a point where it was displaying "configuring tvtime
..." or something like that. The panel grayed out and stayed that way until I
eventually closed that little panel, generating the bug report you now have.

In fact this is the second bug report from me in 3 days. The earlier
bug report was caused as a result of the attempt to install the tvtime
package for the first time. ( tvtime 1.0.2-11-ubuntu3 ).

[Bug 789473] [NEW] package fakeroot (not installed) failed to install/upgrade:

2011-05-28 Thread robert george
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fakeroot

I attempted to upgrade from Handy Heron to 10.4 LTS (whatever was on the
invite which has been appearing in the Update manager.
The process presented about 40 "failed to install" messages, and then it
finished, declaring that it had been unsuccessful. The error report you now
have was just the first of about 20. When I allowed the error reporting
procedure to continue, it took me to the register with Launchpad page. I could
not continue because evolution wouldn't start, so I couldn't get my
confirmation code.

Anyway some things seemed to work, I ran Synaptic once, and the Update
manager about five times, and I removed a package: Flashplugin. The
update manager now declares that the system is up to date. And after
trying to start Evolution about 30 times, it now seems to be working,
and hence I can complete the bug report, because I have been able to
register. (The problem with Evolution was that it flashed up a window
saying something like "migrating files" with a progress panel, and then
immediately closed. I just had to restart it enough times for it to
finish its migration).

So the conclusion is that this bug report is a bit premature.
