[Bug 528308] Re: Software-info is not displayed correctly
Confirmed. This affects almost everyone who corrects the Ubuntu default settings (96 DPI is a setting that is much too low for most modern displays). My screen is 128 DPI and parts of software-center are unreadable. -- Software-info is not displayed correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/528308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 526327] [NEW] Crash when CapsLock toggles Shift and cAPS lOCK-autocorrect is on
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org OpenOffice.org Writer crashes when the CapsLock key behaviour of the Ubuntu keyboard layout options is set on CapsLock toggles Shift so all keys are affected and in OpenOffice, the AutoCorrect option of correcting wrong use of the cAPS lOCK key is enabled. Steps to reproduce (I have my settings on Dutch so I'm translating the captions as well as I can): 1. Go to System - Preferences - Keyboard Layout options. In the second tab, choose Layout options. Open CapsLock key behaviour and choose CapsLock toggles Shift so all keys are affected and click Close. Click Close. 2. Open OpenOffice.org Writer and make sure that in Tools - AutoCorrect options in the tab Options, [I] is checked for Correct erroneous use of cAPS lOCK-key. Click OK. 3. Make sure Caps Lock is disabled. Type a letter, for example 'j'. 4. Enable Caps Lock. Type another letter, for example 'k'. It appears as a capital letter. 5. Press Space so that Writer sees it as a word. Writer corrects and crashes. Workaround: Disable [I] for Correct erroneous use of cAPS lOCK-key in Tools - AutoCorrect options in the tab Options. [Bug 307991] [NEW] libsane-extras doesn't contain epkowa.conf
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 8.10 desktop 32-bit, what happened: 1. Connect scanner 2. Start xsane: no scanner found 3. Install libsane-extras with synaptic 4. Start xsane: no scanner found Expected: 4. Start xsane: scanner is found Workaround: 5. Copy the file /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf from an Ubuntu 8.04 install to the same location. 6. Start xsane: scanner is found In libsane-extras in Ubuntu 8.10, the file /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf doesn't exist. As a consequence, sane can't find my scanner with the package installed, even though the scanner is supported by epkowa. This is a regression, since the file did exist in Ubuntu 8.04 desktop 32-bit and my scanner did work right after installing this package. A workaround is to copy the epkowa.conf file from Ubuntu 8.04 (attached) in /etc/sane.d, but this is not exactly obvious to the regular user. [Bug 65089] Re: Make Another Copy button doesn't work
I still have this bug in Ubuntu 8.10 desktop amd64, albeit a little bit different than in the description. Steps to reproduce: 1. Burn (in my case, an ISO on a DVD+R). When finished, the tray ejects. 2. Swap medium. 3. Close the tray. 4. Click 'make another copy'. The tray ejects, loads again and gives an error. Expected: 4. Click 'make another copy'. The new medium is being burned. Workaround: 1. Burn. When finished, the tray ejects. 2. Swap medium, but don't close the tray. 3. Click 'make another copy'. A dialog box prompts for an empty medium. 4. Close the tray. 5. Click OK. The new medium is being burned. Can this be reopened please? [Bug 303680] [NEW] Installers should warn when having a wrong partition table
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity Ubiquity, gparted and debian-installer all showed no partitions when trying to install Ubuntu 8.10. They all pretended that there was no partition table present. It was a long search before I found out that I had overlapping partitions in my partition table, and that I could fix them with testdisk. Only parted warns about it. Fdisk shows no errors and can print a table. I can see no difference between no table being present or a table with invalid data, that can be corrected, being present. Gparted and Ubiquity should detect and warn about partition table errors (if parted can do it, gparted and the installers can too) and give a solution too, if they can. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gparted installer partitions ubiquity ** Description changed: Binary package hint: ubiquity Ubiquity, gparted and debian-installer all showed no partitions when trying to install Ubuntu 8.10. [Bug 210369] Re: GTK Dropdown menus invisible when using compiz on Hardy
I use CCSM and I have this problem too. Well, the menus and tooltips are not invisible, they just hide behind everything else, including the active window. Even my screensaver appears only in the background. I can still use the application menu if I minimize all other windows, for example. I can resolve this by switching visual effects to 'none' and back to 'extra'. I also tried switching one plug-in off at a time and testing whether the menus work, but that doesn't help: apparently, not one plug-in is responsible for this. I don't know how to reproduce it exactly, sometimes the problem just appears. -- GTK Dropdown menus invisible when using compiz on Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210369 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
