[Bug 519667] [NEW] slow poor graphic performance with i915gm chipset
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev Using ubuntu karmic The gnome desktop refresh is very slow at 1280x1024 16 bits migrating to ubuntu lucid drivers did not help, I managed to find the problem, but not solving it completely ,/dev/dri/card0 was not present, problem loading drm modules finally, I setted up a custom kernel with agpgart built-in kernel not as module, and removed unuseful modules. and now the problem disappears , the drm modules load correctly and graphics work fine. this problem was reported to xserver-xorg-video-intel, but it was not a driver cause, I am posting it here, I suppose it is related to udev, in order being solved ? pc setup : http://www.nexcom.com/ProductModel.aspx?id=b5bc096d-c466-472c-ab60-db2f3770c031 Nexcom Nise 3100ep2 1Gb ram i915GM video chipset [lspci] [ 1.485676] agpgart-intel :00:00.0: Intel 915GM Chipset [ 1.486227] agpgart-intel :00:00.0: detected 7932K stolen memory [ 1.489689] agpgart-intel :00:00.0: AGP aperture is 256M @ 0xd000 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller [8086:2590] (rev 04) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller [8086:2590] 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller [8086:2592] (rev 04) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller [8086:2592] 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller [8086:2592] (rev 04) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller [8086:2592] P: /devices/pci:00/:00:00.0 E: DEVPATH=/devices/pci:00/:00:00.0 E: PCI_SLOT_NAME=:00:00.0 KERNEL[1264761908.136168] add /devices/pci:00/:00:00.0 (pci) DEVPATH=/devices/pci:00/:00:00.0 PCI_SLOT_NAME=:00:00.0 UDEV [1264761908.136206] add /devices/pci:00/:00:00.0 (pci) DEVPATH=/devices/pci:00/:00:00.0 PCI_SLOT_NAME=:00:00.0 ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- slow poor graphic performance with i915gm chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519667 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 514210] Re: [I915GM] slow desktop refresh poor graphics performance
finally I have found the origin of the problem, looks like the i915 module can not be loaded , because of a mismatch in the kernel module loading orders, since it was impossible to get /dev/dri/card0 To solve the problem, I compiled a custom kernel setting agpgart and i915 drm in the kernel and not as modules. like this everything works fine , since i915 is not a loadable module. [Bug 173293] Re: Tuxpaint 0.9.19 with new useful features was released in February - please update packages
finally a solution for this problem is to add this line to /etc/apt/sources.list : deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/secretlondon/ubuntu hardy main then reinstall tuxpaint !! I am sorry, but PPA has non sense in foreign languages like french and many people may not understand what was written in previous comments. [Bug 173293] Re: Tuxpaint 0.9.19 with new useful features was released in February - please update packages
furthermore, it does not print at all. After having quick look at postscript generated output, the postscript code is not correct. And some errors may be related to the use in the french language. So, before I submit a bug for this problem please upgrade the package, since it may be corrected in next releases. -- Tuxpaint 0.9.19 with new useful features was released in February - please update packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173293 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
