Many, many, many thanks!! It worked. I do apologize for checking the security box: I thought it was a security problem because I couldn't get the security updates installed, even though I followed all the instructions given to fix it, repeatedly, over the course of several days -- unfortunately the instructions didn't mention I needed to add "sudo" at the beginning. Anyway, it worked. I am a 65-year-old grandmother with no formal training at all in computers although I've managed to figure out how to use them over the last 17 years. but I love Ubuntu and really appreciate your very kind assistance. I am pleased with libreoffice, but I am agree with you in having a crop tool in writer. I think it would be more usefull, and a fast, easy way to crop images for people who usually add images to their texts. I hope to see this tool implemented soon. Public bug reported: I dont know what you need so have probbably given too much. the laptop is an asus K53U http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K53U/ It duel boots windows and ubuntu - windows is on a 49gb partition ubuntu has 100gb and there is a windows rescue partition of an unknown size. both partitions are swedish. i have tried to stream BBC RADIO 4 in rhythmbox with all but the essental plugins disabled, and vlc media player as well as chrome and firefox - running without plugins. I have tried in a fresh virtual box install and have the same issues each time my conclusion is that it must be ip tables as my bandwidth is at a speed of 50 gb per second - sweden. Well I can't get it to work and the help files are not helping. I'm not sure if it's because i'm on a corporate network and they use clustered servers. Could that have something to do with it? here it is you can see that the second monitor cuts half the image of the video. Yes and as you stated they (Ubuntu programmers) apparently don't care or can't spend the necessary time involved to correct the issue. I'm not a programmer. I don't understand any of it so Evolution is really dead to me. I have searched the internet for any information to correct my issues but can't seem to find anything that will help. Any way I am trying to use Evolution for email and connect to our corporate Exchange 2007 servers. I have successfully set up incoming mail and have no problem receiving mail. But I can't send any mail out nor can I connect to the GAL (Global Address List). When attempting to send any email I get a bounce back from the servers. I can't even connect to any address lists. I used the IP address of the primary server to receive email. As the name of the server would not work at all. I am logged in to the computer using the domain name, user account and user password. ex: name: us\uname password: password Evolution also hangs up quite often at which point I force quit and restart. I was wondering if there is a way to set the connection to a range of IP addresses? This issue is not resolved. I don't know why anyone would indicate that it is resolved. It is a serious issue. I was really hoping to be able to fully utilize Evolution instead of Office Suite/Outlook. It appears I cannot. I will keep searching for a solution but do not hold much hope of finding one. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox the programme freezes and fails to respond promptly i have 119141 mp3 files and think this may have somthing to do with it as the cache is quite large. when i load the programme it initially freeses and has no cache there, it then takes upwards of 20 seconds to load the cache (to list of files) then when it does load them it freeses again for a second or so, when i press play on a file it freezes (greyed out) then plays it, then if i select anouther track to play again it freezes. if i select an audio stream it freezes. occasionally searches for a html codac as it cant play that stream after freezing for a while. i appriciate few people have 80+gb of music (actually lots of people have more) on there local discs (i have 3tb in storage yet dont dare use it as it would freeze and possibly break my machine due to rhythm-box freezing for days possibly weeks trying to load the cache.) really frustrated.
