[Bug 572221] Re: Lucid freeze after a few minutes (or seconds!). Cold boot required everytime.

2010-05-03 Thread scalawag
In response to
"I wonder if you are hitting this:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Bugs/Lucidi8xxFreezes";

I tried "Workaround A: Re-enable KMS" but it didn't help.
I don't want to use VESA (Workaround B).
I don't want to downgrade to the 2.8.0 -intel DDX drive (Workaround C).
Workaround D could be my only solution but do i have to do it or should i
expect an update?
I love 3D desktop so Workaround E is not an option.

[Bug 360148] [NEW] p54usb module loading problem

2009-04-12 Thread scalawag
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.04 Beta i386 without updates.
I've already put the right firmware for my wireless dongle (from
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/p54), but i can't have wireless
working.
When i have the USB dongle inserted the booting stops for a long time.
I have retrieved the following info with dmesg:

When i try to remove module p54usb (sudo modprobe -r p54usb) the console stops
responding.
Ifconfig and iwconfig don't show any wireless.
I'm sure the firmware is the correct one since i used it on fedora 10 amd64
with great success.
lsusb shows :

so the chip is the ISL3886 (firmware 2.13.1.0.arm.0 for kernel 2.6.28)
