[Bug 1522883] [NEW] xkill on "Force quit" dialog crashes the whole session

2015-12-04 Thread scrawl
Public bug reported:

What I did:

Press X on a window that wasn't responding. Got tired waiting for the
"Force quit?" dialog to show up. Ran "xkill" and pointed on the window.

What I expected to happen: the non-responding application is killed.

What happened instead:
Just before I ran "xkill", the "Force quit" dialog appeared, thus the xkill
command ran on the Force Quit dialog rather than on the application window.
Apparently, when xkill is invoked on a Force Quit dialog, a) the whole unity
process is killed and b) the session crashes! (unsure why). The user is placed
back to the login prompt, i.e. all open applications are closed resulting in
possible data loss.

Possible fix:
a) Run "Force quit" dialogs in a separate process, or otherwise disassociate
them from the unity process.
b) ?

Reproducibility: happens 100% of the time when running xkill on a "Force
quit" dialog.

[Bug 1007352] Re: "toggle fullscreen mode" keyboard shortcut not honoured

2015-09-03 Thread scrawl
This bug still exists in Ubuntu 14.04.

A workaround is to open Compiz Config Settings Manager, enable the
"Extra WM Actions" plugin, then assign a key to "Toggle Fullscreen".

[Bug 1313877] [NEW] Launcher icons randomly change color

2014-04-28 Thread scrawl
Public bug reported:

There are 2 applications in my Launcher (Smuxi and Rhythmbox, from
official repositories) that randomly change their background color every
few hours, or sometimes every few minutes (if I had to guess). There are
two different states for these icons, of which I have attached
screenshots. The background is either green-yellow (which I believe is
the correct color), or plain white.

This never happened with any other icons in my launcher. Please fix,
it's driving me nuts :(

I'm guessing that either the background algorithm is non-deterministic
for some reason, or you have an uninitialized variable somewhere?

But now it doesn't anymore. It's a very annoying bug :( I can't use

But I don't think it has to do with Rhythmbox, if you google the error

PyGTK/PyGObject Crash under the weirdest conditions :/

Can a PyGTK Developer please look into this?

[Bug 346131] Re: nautilus is unable to change rights on a remote FTP

2009-03-21 Thread scrawl
 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

Yes it is, just run Places-Connect to Server and connect to any FTP
server, e.g. ftp.gnome.org port 21. Now a device will appear on your
desktop, click on it. Select any file and do a right
click-properties-permissions. It will give you The permissions of XXX
could not be determined..

could you try on jaunty?

I now tried it on Jaunty too, same problem.

[Bug 346131] [NEW] nautilus is unable to change rights on a remote FTP

2009-03-20 Thread scrawl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I really like the FTP functionality in nautilus and use it often, but
unfortunately it's unable to change rights on a remote FTP server (CHMOD). It
always gives me Die Zugriffsrechte konnten nicht ermittelt werden. (unable to
retrieve permission info). Dolphin, for example, already has this. I would love
to see this feature in nautilus. Or is this a bug?

[Bug 294097] [NEW] Display buddy icon on notify bubble

2008-11-05 Thread scrawl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin-libnotify

It would be nice to display the buddy icon in the bubble when a buddy
signs on/off. This should be doable easily.

** Affects: pidgin-libnotify (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
