[Bug 1307717] Re: multiple problems with new chromium-browser
I'm having these same problems with chromium-broswer since upgrading to trusty from saucy (kubuntu amd64). One other thing I didnt see mentioned is that menus are all messed up. They render weird and only a couple items are displayed, with scroll arrows at the top bottom. This affects context menus (right click) as well as drop-down lists on web pages, and makes web forms practically unusable. I've switched to the Google Chrome Dev Channel browser (google-chrome- unstable package from google) and it works great on my kubuntu trusty. It's a decent workaround until the chromium-browser package is working again. [Bug 1268064] [NEW] Remote glusterfs mounts fail during boot because network is not yet available
Public bug reported: I'm the upstream package maintainer I'm filing this bug along with a patch (merge request) for the upcoming trusty release. Affects: Ubuntu trusty (14.04) Problem: Upstart tries the glusterfs mounts before the network is available during boot, and they fail. Solution: An upstart task to block glusterfs mounts during boot until the network is ready Patch: The glusterfs 3.4.1 package currently in trusty has outdated upstart jobs. The patch I will be submitting shortly makes two changes: move the mounting-glusterfs blocker job from glusterfs-server to glusterfs- client; change the wait-for-state condition from glusterfs-server to static-network-up. Background: When I wrote the old mount blocker, back in early 2012, remote mounts worked fine but localhost glusterfs mounts failed because the local glusterfs-server daemon had not started by the time the mounts were executed. At some point since then we found that remote mounts would also fail during boot, perhaps by better testing or maybe a change in ubuntu since precise, I'm not sure. The new mount blocker job resolves both problems as far as I know. I provide the official glusterfs packages for ubuntu in PPAs (https://launchpad.net/~semiosis/+archive /ubuntu-glusterfs-3.4 for example) and many people use those packages and have tested the new mount blocker. [Bug 1205075] Re: mountall doesn't treat glusterfs correctly
I am skeptical of this mountall diagnosis. I spoke with Paul Boven on IRC and my diagnosis of his problem is that the mount was tried before the glusterfs service was completely ready -- which was a known bug with my PPA packages he uses. I finally (last night) fixed that bug, for good as far as I can tell. If anyone can try reproducing this bug with my latest packages I would really appreciate your feedback. The PPA: https://launchpad.net/~semiosis/+archive/ubuntu- glusterfs-3.4/+packages Furthermore, in regards to the mountall diagnosis, if that were really the problem then I believe it would be affecting all glusterfs versions on Ubuntu going back years, which is definitely not the case. I have been battling mount on boot issues for as long as I have been maintaining ubuntu packages of glusterfs (two years) and never run into an issue with command line arguments between mountall glusterfs -- for whatever that's worth. Lastly, my PPA (linked above) is the official upstream distribution channel for glusterfs ubuntu packages. I'd like to work with the distro community to merge my changes into the universe packages. Please get in touch with me if you have any interest in this, I'd really like to hear from you. [Bug 1012768] Re: Mounting volumes from localhost using NFS clients and the Gluster-NFS server fails at boot time
I finally fixed the mount on boot bug for FUSE clients in my PPA packages (the official upstream glusterfs packages for ubuntu). If anyone cares to try reproducing this problem (with FUSE clients) using my latest packages (from today) I would really appreciate your feedback. The PPA: https://launchpad.net/~semiosis/+archive/ubuntu- glusterfs-3.4/+packages NFS clients would need to be blocked while glusterd and its minions get started. See the mounting-glusterfs.conf upstart job (in my glusterfs- client package) for an example of how to block a mount. It would need to be modified to intercept your NFS mount. To reproduce: apt-get install glusterfs-server gluster volume create test eth0-IP:/var/tmp gluster volume start test the 'gluster volume start' command prints an unsuccessful warning... then 'gluster volume info' will report status: started, and 'ps ax | grep gluster' shows a brick export glusterfsd process but no gluster- NFS server process. Solution: Make package glusterfs-server depend on glusterfs-client. ** Affects: glusterfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876639 Title: gluster-NFS server does not work 'volume start' command reports unsuccessful To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glusterfs/+bug/876639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 876648] [NEW] Unable to mount local glusterfs volume at boot
Public bug reported: Mounting glusterfs volumes from localhost in fstab does not work because the mounts are started before the glusterfs-server daemon. The problem is that upstart runs mountall before it runs the /etc/rc2.d /S20glusterfs-server initscript, so when the mount is tried it fails because there is not yet any glusterfs-server running on localhost. To reproduce (as root): apt-get install glusterfs-server glusterfs-client gluster volume create test eth0-IP:/var/tmp gluster volume start test mkdir /media/test echo localhost:test /media/test glusterfs defaults 0 0 /etc/fstab shutdown -r now After rebooting, the new volume will not be mounted. However, once the system has started and glusterfs-server daemon is running, doing a 'mount -a' will work to mount the volume (confirming that the volume fstab config are correct.) Solution: The solution is to replace the glusterfs-server initscript with a proper upstart job which will start the glusterfs-server daemon before the glusterfs mounts are tried by mountall. I have contributed the necessary upstart job upstream to the glusterfs project and it is included in the development source tree under extras/Ubuntu/glusterd.conf. https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/blob/master/extras/Ubuntu/glusterd.conf To include this file in the glusterfs-server binary package, remove the debian/glusterfs-server.init file from the source package and add that upstart job to it as debian/glusterfs-server.upstart. ** Affects: glusterfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876648 Title: Unable to mount local glusterfs volume at boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glusterfs/+bug/876648/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 766534] Re: Regression on maverick when updating to 0.6.7 (security upload)
Glad to see this is actively being worked on. I use cloudinit cloud-config to bootstrap puppet in EC2, and this bug completely breaks the automatic bootstrap process for new instances. Even without the fancy cloud-config/puppet stuff, new maverick instances can't be upgraded. If they are, then dpkg is left in a bad state preventing any other packages from being installed. Thank you for the urgent response to this critical issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/766534 Title: Regression on maverick when updating to 0.6.7 (security upload) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
