[Bug 2064965] [NEW] updatedb works very long time when fuse.vmhgfs-fuse FS is mounted

2024-05-06 Thread Sergey Markelov
Public bug reported:

Please add fuse.vmhgfs-fuse to PRUNEFS in updatedb.conf. Otherwise it collects
data that is not a part of Ubuntu storage.
I've done it for me locally as in the attached file. Want to make it for all
users by default.

[Bug 2063992] [NEW] thumbnails are not shown

2024-04-28 Thread Sergey Ivanov
Public bug reported:

I firstly reported to gnome directly to
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/loupe/-/issues/359
All details there.
But now i see that real issue that someone decides to leave 45's version of eog
on gnome's 46 one.
On fedora on the same machine everything works fine.
Personally i don't understand how version control of packages is done in
release version of os!

[Bug 2051383] Re: gnome-shell high CPU utilization when moving a high frequency mouse

2024-02-27 Thread Sergey Zolotarev
To answer your first question: I'm testing on a freshly booted system
with no applications running.

Regarding extensions:

After I disable the Desktop Icons NG extension (appears to be one of the
built-ins), peak CPU usage for gnome-shell goes from ~55% to ~35% when
moving over an empty desktop. When moving over an application such as
gnome-terminal, CPU usage for gnome-shell increases to ~60% both with
and without this extension (and also gnome-terminal itself consumes
about 25%).

Besides that I have Ubuntu Dock and Ubuntu AppIndicators - disabling
them didn't affect CPU usage.

evtest output attached.

[Bug 1977758] [NEW] MCS9990 not maximum speed USB 2.0

2022-06-06 Thread Sergey
Public bug reported:

There is a speed limit. Tried different kernel versions.
I think the problem is somewhere in the drivers.
In other operating systems, the controller works without problems.
I have used not only ubuntu. I tried other distributions and the problem is the
same.
In Windows normal speed.

[Bug 1969598] [NEW] no auto-focus application after workspace switch

2022-04-20 Thread Sergey Ivanov
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Setup at least two workspaces.

2) open at least one GUI application on one of them. Another one is
focused and no application opened.

3) switch workspaces from 'empty' to 'with application'

Expected result: last focused GUI application from the new focused workspace
will be auto-focused again. And all shortcuts right after the switch will be
applicable to a given application.

Actual result: application is not focused, all shortcuts are applicable
to desktop only.

[Bug 1958576] [NEW] Option grp:alts_toggle does not work

2022-01-20 Thread Sergey
Public bug reported:

Setting grp:alts_toggle has effect, but keyboard layouts are not
actually switched by pressing both alts.

To reproduce:

$ setxkbmap -verbose 10 -option "" -option grp:alts_toggle
Setting verbose level to 10
locale is C
Trying to load rules file ./rules/evdev...
Trying to load rules file /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev...
Success.
Applied rules from evdev:
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: us,ru,us
variant:,,
options:grp:alts_toggle
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
keycodes: evdev+aliases(qwerty)
types: complete
compat: complete
symbols:
pc+us+ru:2+us:3+inet(evdev)+level3(ralt_switch_for_alts_toggle):1+level3(ralt_switch_for_alts_toggle):3+group(alts_toggle)
geometry: pc(pc105)
$

After which Alt-Alt combo does not switch keyboard layouts.

Gnome's Win-Space setting still works to switch layouts though. Also,
setting grp:shifts_toggle using the same method does work as expected.

[Bug 1954580] Re: Ubuntu doesn't recognize touchpad and needs tweak

2021-12-13 Thread Sergey Davydov
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Sorry, not sure you you will take it as a bug, but Ubuntu 20.04.3 (so as
21.*) doesn't recognize the touchpad on my Lenovo S145 and I have to tweak it
(I found this tweak on web):
  1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
  2. There I change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs"
  3. sudo update-grub
  4. restart

Need to mention, until the above, the touchpad was not detected by the
kernel(less /proc/bus/input/devices), and my system starts much longer
  after that.

Sincerely think this operating system could be better.
I'll delete this appeal if you won't admit it a bug

[Bug 1954580] Re: Ubuntu doesn't recognize touchpad and needs tweak

2021-12-11 Thread Sergey Davydov
** Description changed:

Sorry, not sure you you will take it as a bug, but Ubuntu 20.04.3 (so as
21.*) doesn't recognize the touchpad on my Lenovo S145 and I have to tweak it
(I found this tweak on web):
  1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
  2. There I change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs"
  3. sudo update-grub
  4. restart

Need to mention, until the above, the touchpad was not detected by the
kernel(less /proc/bus/input/devices), and my system starts much longer
- after it.
+ after that.

Sincerely think this operating system could be better.
I'll delete this appeal if you won't admit it a bug

2021-09-28 Thread Sergey

there was no effect. After that I downgraded the kernel version to 5.4,
there was no effect, then I installed the 5.12 kernel, there was no effect.

Re: [Bug 1944542] Re: [Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15IIL05] very slow

2021-09-22 Thread Sergey
Daniel, maybe this information will be useful for you, one core of my
processor is always loaded more than others, and so on for 5 days.
Unfortunately, I can't see which process loads exactly one core.

Re: [Bug 1944542] Re: [Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15IIL05] very slow

2021-09-22 Thread Sergey
Dear Daniel, there may be an incorrect translation. I mean, the system
freezes when I work in programs, the response is long, even the mouse
pointer moves slowly. The system almost always works quickly and well, but
now after the upgrade, it has been working slowly for 5 days.[image:

[Bug 1926398] [NEW] Nautilus doesn't show folder name in Operations dialog

2021-04-27 Thread Sergey Zolotarev
Public bug reported:

When I copy a directory from one disk to another, Nautilus won't show
its name next to the progress bar. It simply says "Copying N files to
diskName".

I think it should say something like: "Copying N files in directoryName
to diskName".

Reason:

When you copy 2 big directories with a lot of files to the same
destination and want to know which one is which, you can't differentiate
between them since the directory name is not shown. If you want to
cancel one of them, you also don't know which X button to click.

See my attached screenshot.

Does anyone tested a bug against Language change. It is 100%
reproducible in my case:

1) Turn on notebook with normal fan speed
2) Switch to RU language and start pressing buttons under it in some editor.
3) Fan goes maximal speed without any chance to stop it.

For a long time, I tried to avoid inputting in RU and my fans are OK.

** Description changed:

  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Change "Alert Sound" to , say, Drip.
  2) open terminal and press "Backspace" to test

  Expected: Hear Drip
  Actual: hear default

  Related to
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1871320
but in my case doesn't change to anything else at all even via "Default"
intermediate. It is always "Default".

[Bug 1775717] Re: CPU/GPU Fans suddenly go 100% RPM on Asus ROG G752VT

2021-01-27 Thread Sergey Ivanov
"blacklist=nouveau modprobe.blacklist=nouveau"
Really? With what video driver i supposed to work then?

`sudo powertop --auto-tune`
As i said before and it still happens - my keyboard blocks in 100% after this
command. I'm not able to run any other commands anymore.

Here is start-up dmesg log against nvidia drivers and... it still reproducible
with the very same steps.

[Bug 1913439] [NEW] "Alert Sound" change has no effect at all

2021-01-27 Thread Sergey Ivanov
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Change "Alert Sound" to , say, Drip.
2) open terminal and press "Backspace" to test

Expected: Hear Drip
Actual: hear default

Related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1871320
but in my case doesn't change to anything else at all even via "Default"
intermediate. It is always "Default".

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2021-01-24 Thread Sergey Ivanov
Two more words: bug occurs irrespective of what video drivers present.
Now (unlike in comment #95) i reproduced it against nouveau video
driver (it was against nvidia before).

[Bug 1775717] Re: CPU/GPU Fans suddenly go 100% RPM on Asus ROG G752VT

2021-01-24 Thread Sergey Ivanov
OK, issue is still reproducible. I should appologize that i havn't gathered it
before.
Anyway, below you can find dmesg's only with dyndbg="file drivers/pci/* +p
enabled for two cases:
1) fans are OK - all files with suffix 1
2) fans are at max error state - all files with suffix 2

Description and names of files are the same as in comment #95.

More observations:

1) to set fans into max state i just should input letters from keyboard
in any cyrillic language (RU for example) for some time (not more than i
min takes for me to reproduce issue). At least i couldn't reproduce bug
while inputting in EN layout.

2) No additional dmesg messages are generated in a dyndbg="file
drivers/pci/* +p" mode during reproducing of a bug.
