this is problem with this version of kbarcode, there is a patch on  
kbarcode-users  mailing group

anyway - it is fixed in 2.0.6  - you can get source from kbarcode.net, no 
problem with compilation (feisty, gutsy).
Althought it works from compilation directory, it crashes after: make install
