[Bug 299077] Re: Better feedback after receiving a file

2010-07-07 Thread sole
It seems it has been "fixed" (aka implemented) in Lucid. So yeah this
isn't an issue any more! :-)

The bug should be closed & marked as resolved.

Thanks.

[Bug 356768] Re: ath5k driver hangs periodically, please include trivial patch in kernel

2010-07-05 Thread sole
I can confirm this happened as soon as I upgraded to Lucid. Before it
happened occasionally if the network was used quite a lot (bittorrent),
but with Lucid it happened repeatedly, as early as 15 minutes after
upgrading.

I can also confirm that the patch has fixed the issue; my computer has
been working continuously since I applied it with
amule+bittorrent+youtube's and etc and I haven't had any system freeze
with Lucid and this updated module. Uptime now is "up 1 day, 3:34".

Yes, this is still the same with 8.10. Haven't got access to 9.04 yet...

[Bug 211026] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 Freeze when downloading from bittorent

2008-11-17 Thread sole
While occasionally the network manager looks like the wifi connection
was disconnected, the system hasn't frozen when using bittorrent
software with Intrepid.

No problems for me since upgrading :-)

[Bug 299077] [NEW] Better feedback after receiving a file

2008-11-17 Thread sole
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

It has happened to several users of pidgin, with various degrees of
experience and computer skills, that when a file transfer finishes, they
never know where did they saved the file. They have to remember which
download location did they select, then open a nautilus window, and look
for the file.

Maybe they don't have the "Clear finished transfers" checkbox selected,
and could find where is the file by unfolding the "File transfer
details" section in the "File Transfers" window.

All in all, it is a bit of a hassle and an interruption in the process.

It would be a nice improvement to show an inline message, directly in
the Contact window if there's a chat open, saying "Transfer of file X
has finished. Click here to open".

Or maybe instead of the "Click here to open" message, a shortcut which
opens Nautilus and highlights the file could be provided, if we don't
want people to start receiving files and opening them "too easily" (such
as happened with some MSN viruses). This is just an idea, I don't know
if that is possible with Nautilus.

I think this change, although looking like a minor improvement, would
greatly improve usability of Pidgin.

[Bug 63996] Re: Istanbul freezes when recording ends with Record Sound

2008-10-14 Thread sole
I confirm it doesn't work in hardy (ubuntu studio flavour). I tried with
or without sound and using sudo or with normal user... it always hangs
at the "saving to disk" stage.

[Bug 282725] [NEW] After playing and closing the program, the keyboard behaves weirdly

2008-10-13 Thread sole
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: briquolo

For some strange reason once you play one or more levels and then quit
the program, the keyboard doesn't work as expected any more. Key presses
produce odd results; it looks as if the "alt" key was pressed (but it
isn't). The only way of getting out of this "mode" is to restart the
X-server by pressing ctrl+alt+backspace.

Sometimes even the mouse doesn't behave as expected and clicking on any
window doesn't have any result - it looks as if it has hung but it
hasn't (hard to explain).

I have also tried compiling the latest version of briquolo from the
source code - 0.5.7 whereas hardy's version is 0.5.6 and the behaviour
is exactly the same.

Oddly, it doesn't happen when you just open the game and close it,
without playing.

Extra info:

1)
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

2)
briquolo:
  Installed: 0.5.6-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.5.6-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.5.6-2ubuntu1 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I don't know if this could be a 3d problem ... from what I see the
program is using opengl from the very beginning and it doesn't seem to
have resolution or context changes between the menu and the actual game.
Other 3d apps work fine and I haven't encountered this odd behaviour in
any other program.

Let me know if I can provide you with any other information!
