[Bug 137527] Re: Totem should notify users about installing libdvdread3 and libdvdcss2 to read encrypted DVD
This is a repost from the GNOME bug report: If this has not yet been fixed I'd like to add my 2 cents. Obviously there's legal issues surrounding encryption but is important to provide the user with that knowledge. num = BVW_ERROR_DVD_ENCRYPTED; message = g_strdup (_("The source seems encrypted and can't be read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?")); Just doesn't cut it because it is less than useful in providing "newbie friendly" information. Something like essage = g_strdup (_("The source you're attempting to view seems to be encrypted and therefore can't be read. It is probably a commercial DVD. Please see: XYZ for more information regarding the issues involved.")); XYZ in this case would probably best link to the Ubuntu RestrictedFormats wiki in Ubuntu's specific case. This is probably the most common issue I get asked about by new Linux users and a small change like this could prevent a lot of headaches. Rich, you mentioned getting a fix committed.. any word on this? I don't ask to be pushy I just know what a difference in usability this would make for new users. [Bug 595184] [NEW] Denying admin rights causes "System Testing" to stop working and not close
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: checkbox What happened: Denying admin rights on starting "System Testing" causes it to stay at "Gathering information from your system" with the progress bar going back and forward endlessly. Excuse the ignorance but how does the patch you supply make it to end- users? I see a lot of bugs saying "branch exists" but the fix does not appear in the update manager. [Bug 587901] [NEW] right click on single window in group doesn't allow closing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel What I expected: Right clicking on a single window within a grouped window list would present a context menu allowing me to close the window. What happened instead: The window came into focus. It appears you can close individual windows by clicking on the "main" application placeholder for example "Firefox (3)" and then highlighting specific instance within the list and clicking "close" on the submenu presented. However, simply right clicking directly on a single window within the group results in the window simply coming into focus. I hope that makes sense. I think right clicking on a specific window within a group really ought to allow you perform actions on that item rather than having to right click on the placeholder and go through the extra steps. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-panel What I expected: Right clicking on a single window within a grouped window list would present a context menu allowing me to close the window. [Bug 474040] Re: Additional clock replaces the shutdown menu
Hi all, I've had a similar thing happen to me a number of times, except part of the username takes over the shutdown menu and it becomes unresponsive to interaction. I've tried to watch for a possible way to replicate the bug but so far I haven't found one. It seems to occur randomly. Please see the attached screenshot. If I can provide any additional files that might be of help to replicating or fixing this bug please let me know.
