You could sign the kernel module yourself or disable secure boot,
otherwise the module won't load ->

[Bug 447892] Re: [i855GM] Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855

2010-02-12 Thread souplin
@Andrea Vico
same here seems to be the frame buffer doesn't work correctly. I boot only by
setting the kernel options "nomodeset nosplash" then switch via alt+ctrl+F7 to
a terminal where I can put my crypto passphrase. To get to the grub menu press
ESC fast when starting the laptop.
Intel Driver still seems to freeze so I stick to use vesa instead. Hopefully
lucid will be usable in the future

[Bug 366292] Re: excessive CPU usage in 9.04- no apparent reason

2009-05-25 Thread souplin
Seems to be a duplicate of bug #340515

To determine if the vino server causes the problem (you can't use top/htop to
view the cpu time in this case), you need to enter
{{
ps ax|grep vino-server serveral times
}}
{{
1)
3546 ?S  0:03 /usr/lib/vino/vino-server --sm-config-prefix
/vino-server-sNAKlu/ --sm-client-id
10745211812e4f72ae12430883794091070063310022 --screen 0
 3828 ?R  0:00 /usr/lib/vino/vino-server

2)
 3546 ?S  0:03 /usr/lib/vino/vino-server --sm-config-prefix
/vino-server-sNAKlu/ --sm-client-id
10745211812e4f72ae12430883794091070063310022 --screen 0
 4027 ?R  0:00 /usr/lib/vino/vino-server

3)
 3546 ?S  0:03 /usr/lib/vino/vino-server --sm-config-prefix
/vino-server-sNAKlu/ --sm-client-id
10745211812e4f72ae12430883794091070063310022 --screen 0
 6255 ?R  0:00 [vino-server]
 6257 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep vino
 6258 ?R  0:00 /usr/lib/vino/vino-server
}}

As you might see the vino-server is started and killed so the process ID
increases. This permanent loop seems to be the reason for the CPU usage.

[Bug 362203] Re: Skype high cpu usage on Ubuntu 9.04 using Pulse

2009-05-12 Thread souplin
Tried everything. (e.g. http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#Skype)
Skype with Ubuntu Jaunty is unusable at the moment. Initiating a call leads to
100% cpu usage even on a 2 Ghz Dual Core CPU You can talk for a random
amount of time until the sound is broken.

Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev

Kernel: 2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 1 19:27:06 UTC 2009 i686

Maybe it's due to the onboard sound device?

[Bug 325690] Re: udev has wrong name for devmapper devices, cryptsetup initramfs hook fails

2009-02-24 Thread souplin
$ zcat /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-8-generic | cpio -tv|grep cryptroot
46718 blocks
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root 7080 Feb 17 18:49
scripts/local-top/cryptroot

Same here - BUT my system won't boot any longer, because i'm not asked for the
cryptopassword until  -> bug #317442
zcat /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-8-generic | cpio -tv|grep cryptroot
-rw-r--r--   1 root root  103 Feb 24 11:24 conf/conf.d/cryptroot
46718 blocks
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root 7080 Feb 17 18:49
scripts/local-top/cryptroot

the conf/conf.d/cryptroot is generated/included in the initramfs, containing
the information:
target=crypt,source=/dev/disk/by-uuid/XXX----XXX,key=none,lvm=jautyest-root

[Bug 332270] Re: udev repeatedly generates "change" events for the same block device(s)

2009-02-23 Thread souplin
Can confirm the bug was fixed by installing the package udev-138-2 and
the new lvm2, but somehow leaves bug #325690 The conf/conf.d/cryptroot
isn't created by update-initramfs anymore.

Don't know, if this is also caused by the last udev updates. Also my
other hdds are not mounted - I can't sent them to the sleep modus via
hdparm -Y /dev/sdb any longer. The hdd restarts instantly...

[Bug 325690] Re: udev has wrong name for devmapper devices, cryptsetup initramfs hook fails

2009-02-23 Thread souplin
I can confirm bug #332270 is fixed, by upgrading to the latest udev/lvm2
package - but #325690 is NOT fixed.

update-initramfs creates a new initram which doesn't contain the
conf/conf.d/cryptroot file
(look at bug #317442)
the system can't be booted any longer, unless you provide a cryptroot file and
create an initramfs file yourself

After upgrading to totem-gstreamer version: 2.25.90-0ubuntu2 the
program still keeps crashing:

2,00% complete
6,00% complete
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

[Bug 237738] Re: wallpaper-tray crashes (often) when adding new (large) folders

2009-02-06 Thread souplin
Can't add any wallpaper directories. Created a test enviroment with one
wallpaper path containing a single jpg file a.jpg .

e.g. adding this directory ->
*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/wallpaper-tray: free(): invalid next size
(normal): 0x09314230 ***

when I change the picture type from default "zoom" to "wallpaper" I got:
*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/wallpaper-tray: malloc(): memory corruption:
0x092f3470 ***
