Just FYI, there is an updated bios for this hardware (A06) posted on December 22 2014. I don't believe it would influence this bug though. Enhancements - Not Applicable. I don't believe I have unity8-desktop-session-mir installed. quick question: frm what I understand, this overlay brings up static text. Wouldn't it be prudent to have it read the current shortcuts from the current cofiguration? IMO It would be better for those using gconf to tweak or future customization additions to unity.
