[Bug 1579712] Re: Refresh hangs due to strdup on non-NULL terminated string
Disabled all my repositories by commenting out everything in /etc/apt/sources.list and moving everything out of /etc/apt/sources.list.d; it did the trick: could update appstream from proposed repository. Peter, the package can be found at: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/appstream/0.9.4-1ubuntu1 (as previously posted) but I'm kinda at a loss here: dpkg -i launches appstreamcli when setting up the package which results in me not being able to install it so far. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579712 Title: Refresh hangs due to strdup on non-NULL terminated string To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/appstream/+bug/1579712/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 863810] [NEW] No sane way to access launcher when auto-hidden
Public bug reported: On ubuntu 11.04, using unity's launcher set to auto-hidden was manageable: since most applications (browser's back button for instance) place several important elements on the left of the screen, when maximized, you could still manage to use these elements without triggering the launcher by setting the launcher's trigger region to be at the top left of the screen. Since only the dash button was in this area, there was no reason for your cursor to be there except if you'd wish to either launch dash or trigger the launcher - it made sense. Now that the current window's close, minimize and maximize buttons have been place in this area (and that for some reason, the launcher's trigger region fails to respond properly when set to this area on 11.10 ), you don't have any way of using your application without risking to trigger the launcher without wanting it to. The only space left would be the bottom left corner but that would be absolutely counter-productive since most people sort their frequently accessed applications top to bottom and not the inverse. Hence I must say, this design is severely broken. For this, I needed to deactivate the mouse triggering of the launcher and only use the keyboard. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: design usability -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863810 Title: No sane way to access launcher when auto-hidden To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/863810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 673302] Re: appmenu-gtk breaks dynamically created Emacs Gtk+ menus
Michael, I've just checked the diff for your patch and you only list emacs in the black list. I still had the problem because my emacs is launched as emacs23 (and most of the time as emacsclient -c -a emacs23 actually). Perhaps a regex could be good at this point. [Bug 673302] Re: appmenu-gtk breaks dynamically created Emacs Gtk+ menus
Just updated from the new appmenu-gtk (if the one I saw passing through apt-get really was it) but I'm not certain if blacklisting was sufficient. The menus are shown, indeed, but that also are empty (where obviously they shouldn't). [Bug 762494] [NEW] Missing or empty menus in ubuntu 11.04
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: emacs23 Upgraded from ubuntu 10.10 to ubuntu 11.04. Now most of the specific emacs modes menus (cedet, gud, etc.) are missing from the menu bar. Thinking this was perhaps due to unity I've tested this in plain gnome and the problem remains. Of course there are emacs commands to perform most of these menus actions but might I say that this is a serious annoyance when you're not familiar with these commands. [Bug 763122] [NEW] Inconsistent autohide behavior
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity Upgraded from ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 beta 2 - atm, all the current packages updates are applied. PROBLEM: With unity is set to autohide, quite randomly but with a probability nearing 0.25, when hovering on some icons and 100% when launching a new application the unity menu won't return to it's hidden state immediately after leaving the menu area. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: - Set unity to autohide via compiz settings - launch an application from it's launcher icon (i.e.: vlc, emacs, chromium, etc.) - move your cursor towards the newly open application Result: the unity menu does not hide when leaving it's area. - clicking outside the menu does not help either. To force the menu to hide itself, going back on the menu, hovering on some items with the cursor is required. Re: [Bug 398522] Re: Okular fail to open files with utf-8 chars in file's name.
My mistake. The following file names: A File.pdf AFilé.pdf AFileà.pdf All give an error when opening, but only from thunar (it seems thunar does some urlencoding of the file names before sending it to okular, hence I get an error as: 'could not open file: my_file%25C%31.pdf' Perhaps I should check with thunar folks. [Bug 366979] Re: [i945] totem crashes when trying to play video file and using a virtual configuration
Seron: having a quite similar problem, I believe this bug is linked to your virtual memory settings (along with the new GEM for video memory allocation) As a workaround you can try changing SubSection Display Virtual 2384 768 EndSubSection to something like: SubSection Display Depth 24 Modes 2384x768 1024x600 EndSubSection #the first mode ( 2384x768) being the native resolution of the external monitor, #the second (1024x600) being the fallback that's gonna be use for you main screen. If this works, then we'll know the problem is directly linked with virtual memory allocation. -- [i945] totem crashes when trying to play video file and using a virtual configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 252094] Re: MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel
Note to eee pc users. From what I've gathered, the intel driver now defaults to the EXA acceleration method which relies on the GEM memory manager. That should be fine and dandy however note that GEM is not part of the 2.6.27 kernel. So if by any chance you got your kernel from array.org and did not upgraded to 2.6.28 (from stock ubuntu), beside having an awful fps in most 3d apps, glxgears will tell you that it cannot use GEM and this means: switch to 2.6.28, your problems will be solved. p.s.: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/IntelPerformance -- is a good thing. -- MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 354637] [NEW] rendering bug on qt4 apps
Public bug reported: Context: - Video card: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) - Kernel: 2.6.27-8-eeepc-lean - O.S.:Ubuntu jaunty beta 1 (with the latest updated applied) - WM: Enlightenment 17 (to be confirmed for gnome or kde) - Most qt4 apps (i.e.: dolphin, amarok2, etc.) See below for a screenshot. The bug seems to only affect applications using qt4 and most likely appear when more than one of them are open. This problem can be corrected when resizing the faulty application, while changing from a virtual desktop to another then coming back, or simply moving the application around have no effect. Note that this seems very similar to Bug #334657 although the rendering glitch is not limited to fonts drawing and that changing the fonts smoothing method to anything else than subpixel/lcd does not affect the current problem. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: jaunty qt4 x11 -- rendering bug on qt4 apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354637 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
