[Bug 429036] Re: core i7 i5 (Lynnfield) turbo boost not working

2010-01-20 Thread surfed
There is a lot of confusion about turbo boost. /proc/cpuinfo will not report
correct freq (only reports non turbo frequencies)
Up to recently I thought my turbo boost was not working on my i7 laptop as
cpufreq reported max 1.6ghz. With the following util I found out that my
frequencies where up to 2.8ghz No cpufrequtils needed, it all done on the
hardware...

I expected to get an IM window so I can continue my conversation.

What actually happens is, you notice a sluggishness on the mouse cursor, you
start to hear the HDD spin from the memory swapping. I run conky and I can
monitor my top 3 CPU and RAM hogs as well as percentage of ram used. Pidgin
goes to the top on both CPU usage and RAM usage. My 4 Gigs of RAM are maxed
out in a matter of seconds... slowly but surely the computer comes to a
halt. This was happening several times, and I noticed that the common factor
was me getting an IM that I did not initiate. Oh, and the IM window never
 makes it to the screen.

libpam-smbpass needs the /var/lib/samba directory to exist (even empty).
You can also reproduce simply by installing libpam-smbpass without installing

easy fix: make libpam-smbpass depend on samba
better fix: create /var/lib/samba in samba-common.dirs and transfer purging
of that directory from samba.postrm to samba-common.postrm
