[Bug 98648] Re: [Feisty] [regression] No XV or GLX with i810 on i915GM

2007-03-29 Thread susancragin
Problem with 3/29 updates.
I have an Acer Ferrari with ATI Mobility Radeon 7000.
My video card no longer works.
I tried updating xorg. No luck.
I tried adding the following to the conf file;
Option MonitorLayout LVDS,AUTO
which has worked for the past 8 or so of my installs.
No luck.

Feisty does run from the command line. I have done apt-get update, apt-get
install, and then apt-get upgrade.
All updates / upgrades are in place.

I'm not very technically proficient, but I'll help if I can.

[Bug 98612] Re: Sees wireless networks but wont connect

2007-03-29 Thread susancragin
This is my 2-cent workaround, in case you have the same problem I do.
My Acer Ferrari never finds the wireless on bootup. Somehow it always looks for
the last IP address rather than a new one.
So, I just open the wireless icon in the top right-hand corner and re-click on
the wireless network I want.
When it start looking again, it usually succeeds.
If not, I re-boot the modem.
Instant success.

Hi,
Unfortunately crash dumps of mono programs are not immediately helpful. Can
you attach the contents of the directory ~/.beagle/Log ? If the files in
there are of large size, try attaching only the files pointed to by
 ~/.beagle/Log/current-IndexHelper ~/.beagle/Log/current-Beagle

Thanks.

[Bug 85558] [apport] mono crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-02-16 Thread susancragin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mono

I have beagle installed. That may be part of the problem.

During the crash, I was running synaptic, and have trouble because it
says my vmware player kernel-modules package is corrupt, so I tried to
remove it. But ...

When trying to remove it in Synaptic, I get the following error message:
E: vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.20-8: Package is in a very bad inconsistent
state - you should

(That's the whole message.)

I think I submitted a synaptic crash report on the same subject.

If you need me to run anything just ask. I need a bit of hand-holding but am
very willing.
I love you people, and think you do a great job.

[Bug 77266] Feisty upgrade to 2.6.20 does not boot on AMD64

2007-01-03 Thread susancragin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 76785 ***

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.20-2-generic-di

I installed Feisty yesterday (Dec 26) from the latest CD image available.
Install worked fine. Booted up. Everything fine.
Then dist-upgraded to new version which I believe is 2.6.20-2.
Upgrade seemed to go well. No hang-ups, no error messages.
Then I re-booted.
???
It gets stuck on the splash screen.
I can't even get it into safe mode to look for an error log.
My machine is an Acer 4005 AMD64.
I have tried installing both by using my old Linux partition and by creating a
new partition. This does not seem to make a difference.

[Bug 72219] Re: Tomboy does not install in feisty

2006-11-17 Thread susancragin
I tried to install Tomboy from both add/remove in Applications, and through
Synaptic. Add/remove failed. Synaptic told me I needed old libraries. Did that.
Tomboy came up once, without recognizing any of my prior notes, when I called
it up through a terminal window.
But since then--nothing.
Not sure what the problem is, but have attached report.
Could part of the problem be that Tomboy is now at version 0.5.0, and the
repository is at 0.4.1?

2006-11-17 Thread susancragin
In the feisty AMD64 repository, Tomboy is only at version 0.4.1.
I did not make a note of which library it did not use. So I un-installed it,
upgraded all my packages, and re-installed it. This time Tomboy did not
complain about the libraries, but Tomboy 0.4.1 still installs, and still does
not recognize my previous notes stored in .tomboy.

As of Edgy kernel 2.6.17.9.23 on AMD64, the bootup error message flashes
the following message:

and then goes very slowly and grinds to a halt with the following message:

and then starts again.

2006-08-22 Thread susancragin
Public bug reported:

I opened synaptic package manager and started downloading package files, and
mono crashed.
In an unrelated event, which I think is connected to this, my taskbar
malfunctioned. I highlighted Applications and the list flickered and did not
allow me to access any of the programs.

[Bug 17881] Re: usb flash memory hangs after copying few MB

2006-08-10 Thread susancragin
It's the copy command, or the memory allocation, or something, since the same
thing happens copying from CD/DVD.
I just tried copying from a CD and then a DVD, and the same thing happens in
Eft. (I have all the latest updates including kernel as of August 10.)
Copying appears to get stuck copying files. one CAB file at 512.8 KB won't
copy at all. But JPGs larger than that copied, albiet very, very slowly.
I have an AMD64 Acer Ferrari with 1GB RAM.

[Bug 29566] Re: Missing firmware for bcm43xx driver during install

2006-08-09 Thread susancragin
On my Acer 4005 AMD64, loaded edgy on 8/7 and updated today using wire. But
have two wireless cards, internal and Belkin PCMCIA. Neither work.
On bootup, various error messages flash by relating to bcm43xx not loading.
PCMCIA card has never lit up.
In Gnome, when I try System / Administration / Networking i get a system crash,
but that's
Bug 55458.
Want any error ? Tests? just let me know.
