[Bug 1675334] [NEW] nvidia 375.39 package makes weird screen appearance on resume
Public bug reported: I recently received new proprietary nvidia driver package (nvidia 375.39) and my computer screen makes very weird apparance, rainbow-like frame around windows upon resume. It is very difficult to explain that situation, additional lines on all window borders and makes window buttons in upper window frame very invisible, attached in this bug report. I am using NVIDIA GeForce 560 Ti graphics card and I had not met such experience before. My system is Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial) with all latest patches applied. [Bug 1630077] Re: Inkscape doesn't open ubuntu 16.04 libgiomm-2.4.so.1
I have the same phenomena upon installation of Inkscape. This is what I did: 1. click .ai file and said from nautilus that "You need to install application to open this file". 2. Showed two applications. I chose Inkscape. 3. Installation started. Affiliated packages as well. After I tried to open inkscape, I found the following message. inkscape: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/libgiomm-2.4.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZN4Glib11VariantTypeD1Ev -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1630077 Title: Inkscape doesn't open ubuntu 16.04 libgiomm-2.4.so.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/inkscape/+bug/1630077/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1594681] Re: Don't override IM variables
Hi, I was just stacked by this trouble ... (1) cannot input Japanese characters via Mozc (Japanese input method) in Dash search window (2) cannot input any Japanese characters for Skype. I suppose these troubles closely connected to this bug. Both troubles was solved like a magic by installing gnome-session packages at Gunnar's PPA (ppa:gunnarhj/gnome-im). I suggest this modification will link to solve the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1594681 Title: Don't override IM variables To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-session/+bug/1594681/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1202059] [NEW] Printing from Firefox is totally black in the background
Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with all latest patches applied. When I print web pages from Firefox (or sometimes from Google Chrome), print results are nearly black in the background, with some gaps between colors near the edge of the paper. I am using Canon S600 (BJ F850 equivalent, which has been sold in Japan) connected via USB and printing from other application such as evince and LibreOffice are no problem. If I print web pages via PDF files using cups-pdf, I can print them fine (except some resolution loss). Is this problem stems from Firefox or Google Chrome, or printing system such as cups and foomatic, or specific to this printer? [Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded
Till, After three days test running of printer including output of several dozens of pages, I confirmed that option "-o usb-unidir-default=true" just works for my printer, Canon Pixma MP600. In one case, I encountered printer just halt. In this case, I started printing with printer's power still off. And moreover, system went very unstable and I had to shut down the machine (and could not do safely). I convince that I can ignore this case and the option generally works. Thank you for your definite suggestions! ... One more excuse. Actually, I tried this option before, and it didn't work in that time ... cups and related packages were not updated. So, I had "double bugs" in that time and that's why this option didn't work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997040 Title: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/997040/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded
Still in problem even after installing most recent update (cups, 1.5.3-0ubuntu4). The symptom is also the same. * Printer is OK after several periods of powering on. * Then, printer suddenly hangs without warning. I only can know this by notifying printer spool does not proceed. * The only solution is to shut down the printer. My printer (Canon Pixma MP600) cannot shut down by "power" button after encoutering this trouble, only by plugging off the power code. * Everything seems to be normal after re-enterying power switch of the printer. Spooled printing is also OK. * This situation does not change even if I assign module "usblp" as a blacklisted one. I cannot carve up the cause of this problem whether this is driver side and backend side. However, I suppose that the problem stems from backend, as same problem occurs after changing the driver. And it seems that some extra signal (possibly from cups?) makes the printer hangs up. However, it is also strange that the printer never time out after plugging off USB cable, or lettting it for several minutes. What is the best way to solve (or, at least collect related information) this problem ...?
[Bug 964574] Re: Images print as black blocks
I encounter similar phenomena at Ubuntu 12.04 on my home. This computer is connected to very old printer, Canon S600 (equivalent, BJ F850 in Japanese brand name) via USB. Almost of all printing is fine using foomatic printer driver (S600 or S630) except printing from Firefox. It turns out totally black with fine streaky lines in the right side. Page is totally black with characters embossing like photo negatives. Printing is no problem if I once output pages to PDF (using cups-pdf) and then printing (using Adobe Acrobat). Also, I confirmed this problem on printing from Google Chrome. I am not sure what layer is the cause of this problem, cups, gs or these browsers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964574 Title: Images print as black blocks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/964574/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded
Thank you for fix release of cups. However, I am still having the same trouble even after applying the latest cups package. I have two printers connected via USB, Canon PIXMA MP600 and PIXMA MP630. The symptom is: * Printer device frequently disappears. We can only see /dev/usb/lp1, no lp0. * Sometimes printing takes very long time, nearly 1 hour. * Printing generally succeeds at the first printing after computer is turning on, but fails after that. * blacklisting usblp and selecting some options (usb-no-reattach, usb-unidir-default=true/false) make no effect. I have 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 system and uses drivers provided by Canon, both in 32bit. This seems slightly unstable configuration, but it seems drivers just works fine according to error_log. One strange message from the log is "Got USB transaction timeout during read." (or write), which means usb module has timed out and printer connection has been lost in some reason. Is anybody out there explain this ? ** Attachment added: "CUPS error_log (debug mode)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/997040/+attachment/3246519/+files/cups_error_log.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997040 Title: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/997040/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1006934] [NEW] Sylpheed crashes just after launching
Public bug reported: I am using Sylpheed, an E-mail client, in precise amd64. I've just installed precise and installed Sylpheed just after completed installation, however, I encountered the trouble that Sylpheed crashes abruptly just after fetching E-mails. The trouble happens when Sylpheed starts fetching E-mails, and it crashes just after displaying collecting a few mails. I checked my directory of sylpheed settings, .sylpheed-2.0, and found tmp/tmp.001 as a remnant of unsuccessful mail retrieval. Upon execution from terminal, the error messages "Illegal instruction (core dumped)" has been displayed. More curiously, this bug now not appears. I manually installed sylpheed 3.1.4 compiled from source code and confirmed it worked flawlessly (that is, no corrupted parts in setting files and mail boxes). After this conformation, I launched Sylpheed installed by the system, and it works ... I am using precise, including ia32 and amd64 in several systems and keeps nearly same settings and same applications in them. That means Sylpheed is used in my several computers. However, I have not encountered such a strange trouble. [Bug 389154] Re: EXT4-fs error
I reviewed this bug at the opportunity of 10.04 release, and all attempts below were unsuccessful. Here is my configuration: * Computer: IBM ThinkPad X31, 768MB memory, 40GB HDD * Installation target: External USB memory (actually microSDHC reader), Buffalo RUF2-PS. * What I want to do: Install Ubuntu for an external USB memory, without any affection to HDD. 10.04 LTS 32bit * Dividing USB mem into three partitions, formatting with ext4, locating grub in USB mem (/dev/sdb) ... ext4-fs error, very unstable * Same partition, formatting with ReiserFS (grub is same) ... ReiserFS error, very unstable * Same partition, formatting with ext2 (grub is same) ... ext2-fs error, less than ext4, but fatal * Using USB mem as one partition, formatting with ext4 (grub is same) ... slightly stable, but consequently boot failure with ext4-fs error * same partition above (one partition), ext4, boot loader at /dev/sda ... same as above (not successful) I inspected using USB memory check tools in Windows environment and confirmed there are no errors. Actually, it is no problem to use after re-formatting as FAT32 after these attempts. I suppose this problem stems from some affinity between ThinkPad (possibly BIOS) and this USB external memory. I should have tried with other compters or other USB memory, but I had no time. [Bug 578485] Re: After adding an account to Gwibber, the "social bar" appears in the Ubuntu Lucid Me Menu; after reboot the social bar/box disappears
I encountered similar phenomena. Yesterday, I deleted my GNOME keyring files (~/.gnome2/keyrings/*.keyring) to avoid annoying password entry message appearing upon startup. Far from my purpose, gwibber went very unstable since then. Sometimes, gwibber didn't display any timeline and Me Menu are trying to create "default.keyring" (here, default is in Japanese ... as I am using ja_JP.UTF8 locale). I found re-creation of key (by "encryption and key files" from Application Menu) and added my Twitter account and password. It seemed problem solved, but in this time, gwibber would not update timeline after about 20 minutes from launch. After several trial, I found current and tentative solution. It is very simple. * If I found gwibber no longer updates timeline, Close gwibber. * Kill gwibber-service by ps aux | grep gwi kill -KILL (process number of gwibber-service) * restarting gwibber-service by /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/gwibber-service & Currently it works anyway. But I need some essential solution. I suppose this bug is related with python and dbus connection, not authentication module. Hope this helps. -- After adding an account to Gwibber, the "social bar" appears in the Ubuntu Lucid Me Menu; after reboot the social bar/box disappears https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 389154] Re: EXT4-fs error
Leann and all, I have the very same problem in jaunty. My symptom is: - The machine stops booting during startup (mainly in splash screen) like this; EXT4-fs error (device sdb): ext4_find_entry: reading directory #25 offset 0 The number of directory is different in each case, but generally 25 appears most. - This freezing sometimes also occurs after the GNOME desktop is coming up. In some cases, after launching some applications like Firefox and Terminal, the GNOME environment suddenly displays a warning dialog (cannot read ... in illigible characters) and then turns into B/W screen. - Forcing fsck does not make situation well. My machine sometimes stops even during fsck checking. The only solution is to make hard-reboot. The Ctrl-Alt-Delete stroke does not work in every time. I am still thinking whether using ext4 or downgrading to ext3. And I must wait few more days till the release of karmic. Also, I applied the custom kernel made by Leann, but the symtom did not go better. One good point was that the times of hard-rebooting came down ... before more than ten times, after a few times. But it still need to be observed. My machine environment: Computer: IBM ThinkPad X31 (2672-C2J), Pentium M 1.4GHz, 768MB memory Storage: 40 GB HDD with 16 GB external USB memory I am booting jaunty from this external USB memory.
