[Bug 1939348] [NEW] 3d models glitch in 3D view

2021-08-09 Thread thejpster
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 21.04
Package: Kicad 5.1.9+dsfg1-1
CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz (with Intel Xe graphics)
Screen resolution: 2560x1600 @ 60 Hz
Display: X11, with default GNOME 3 (Wayland has the same issue)

When I view my PCB design in Kicad in 3D mode, various surfaces on the
3D models glitch on and off (appear transparent and then solid again).
Adjusting the view very slightly might cause them to reappear, or they
might change when panning, but then change back when panning stops. This
exact board works fine on my other PCs (an aging Core 2 Duo with a
Quadro 600, and an i3-7100U with Intel UHD graphics - both running the
same Ubuntu and Kicad).

Kicad project you can try: https://github.com/Neotron-Compute/Neotron-
Pico/commit/2a30b714678ae7cdd571d254cc3df3dd42722fe9

Screen-cap of issue: https://youtu.be/4aX5BPtca-E

I'm filing against Kicad, but this may well be a Mesa bug.

** Affects: kicad (Ubuntu)

 Status: New

I'm seeing this in 12.04 LTS running XFCE4 and XMonad. I can't apply the
PPA as it only seems to support 13.04.

[Bug 990887] Re: LightDM does not suspend when lid is closed

2012-11-20 Thread thejpster
I see this on 12.10. My wife and I use XFCE sessions and closing the lid
with either session active suspends OK, even if the other person is
logged in too.

If lightdm is on screen (i.e. one of us logged out or selected switch
user) when the lid is closed the laptop stays powered on.

[Bug 875803] [NEW] Hauppauge Nova-HD-S2 broken in 11.10

2011-10-16 Thread thejpster
Public bug reported:

My Hauppauge Nova-HD-S2 worked perfectly in 11.04. I upgraded to 11.10
and now kern.log is filled with hundreds of errors per second when Myth
Backend or scan try and use the card.

I have a second (DVB-T) card which uses the same driver and that card
works OK.

1. I upgraded to 11.10
2. I expected my Nova-HD-S2 to continue working in Mythtv.
3. I can't watch any channels on Freesat in MythTV. Mythfrontend starts going
very slowly and I get hundreds of errors per second in /var/log/syslog and
/var/log/kern.log. The files got to ~700MB each before I caught the problem.

[Bug 875803] Re: Hauppauge Nova-HD-S2 broken in 11.10

2011-10-16 Thread thejpster
The problem appears to have been caused by an upgrade to M2N-VM DVI BIOS
0905. Downgrading to BIOS version 0603 appears to have cured the
problem, at least to the point I have captured 5 minutes of footage
using the DVB-S card.

[Bug 195982] Re: Shift key (and caps lock) stop working when using VMWare

2011-09-05 Thread thejpster
This happens for me on Maverick with Vmware Workstation 7.1.4
build-385536. Sometimes, I don't notice it's a problem (say, I'm working
in the VM where the keys still work fine), I go away for a while, the
screensaver activates and I find I'm unable to enter my password. I have
to kill gnome-screensaver from another machine using SSH, then run
setxkbmap to fix it.

[Bug 235315] Re: [Hardy] Laptop can't resume from suspend

2009-02-05 Thread thejpster
I had the same problem on my Acer Extensa 4220 under Hardy and Intrepid.
It went to sleep OK, then shutdown on resume. I'm running
2.6.27-11-generic x86_64.

The SUSPEND_MODULES=psmouse hack fixed it for me.
