[Bug 137514] Re: sshfs locks up randomly
I have this bug with Ubuntu 10.04 exactly as described by the OP (during heavy transfers). Killing the SSHFS process, unmounting and remounting solves the problem but seems to crash parts of gnome (not sure which but my theme disappears). I'm happy to help diagnose if I can and I'll try the various suggestions mentioned in the comments above. I have changed the status back to confirmed so that this bug isn't overlooked because of its present status despite comments to suggest that it's still a problem. Please accept my apologies if I've not followed correct protocol with this change but the system appeared to allow me to make it so I was proactive. ** Changed in: sshfs-fuse (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- sshfs locks up randomly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137514 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 611081] [NEW] Banshee forces transcode for mass storage device regardless of capability
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee Using a mass storage device (eg Android phone), Banshee insists on transcoding transferred files to a nominated format even if the attached device can read the file being transferred. Should be an option for user to list those types supported by the attached device (or a database of devices with supported codecs). Banshee should then transcode anything other than these file types using the chosen encoder. Transcoding everything regardless of device capability is wasteful in terms of both quality and time. Hope that's of some help :) ** Affects: banshee (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Banshee forces transcode for mass storage device regardless of capability https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/611081 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 579804] Re: Store/read tags inside photos
I share Aaron's use-case of storing the photos on my server at home. The photos are presently tagged in Shotwell on my laptop. If my wife wants to browse them in their organised state on her laptop, then I either need to find a way of sharing Shotwell's db file or to host in on the server. Alternatively, having the info stored in each photo might do the trick but less efficiently. I'd like the option to occasionally 'update all changed meta-data' in order to ensure that my sorting isn't lost in the future upon reinstalling etc... [Bug 560530] [NEW] Main menu's submenus jump back up after scrolling down
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg What happens: Using a mouse, I enter the System, then Preferences, menu from the 'main menu' applet in the toolbar (the compact applet which is a single ubuntu icon - not the one with apps, places and system as separate main menus). The height of the preferences menu exceeds the screen height so a small triangle at the bottom allows me to scroll down if I hover over it. The problem is, having scrolled, if I then move my mouse up to select, say, 'Startup Applications', then the menu instantly jumps back to the top. A workaround is to select using cursor keys. What should happen: After scrolling down, the menu should remain at the position I leave it once I move the mouse cursor away from the down triangle tab. Using the 10.04 beta. Thanks! Tested for 2 hours with Karmic Live-CD yesterday and the problem didn't reoccur. I'd like to upgrade to Karmic and test again to see if it's a configuration problem but I'm wary of bug #399534 which could damage my hardware. [Bug 416668] [NEW] VGA-out dies after a while on Eee 900A
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Very similar symptoms to bug #257894 but that was closed and the recommendations in there do not resolve the problem for me. The last comment in that report is to file a new bug if anyone has similar difficulties, so that's what I'm doing. The VGA output from my Eee PC 900A goes black after a random period of between about 20 mins and a couple of hours. Switching back to the LCD works fine and switching back again to the VGA output does not help, it remains black. I have tried the suggestions in 257894 but they have not helped. I also have another Eee PC (a 701) with the same OS and the same problem. Thanks for your help. [Bug 282655] [NEW] Changing volume with laptop key shortcuts and focus on second X screen causes short term crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I have Ubuntu 8.04.1 (fully updated) running on an Asus A8SC laptop (using Nvidia restricted drivers). When I use the laptop's shortcut to change volume (Fn and F11/F12), both x-screens lock up and appear to redraw all of the theme shading. This only occurs when I'm working on the second x-server screen (dual monitor) when I make the key press, but affects both x-servers. I am not entirely sure which package this is disrupting so have opted for xorg. I will gladly attach any diagnostics but I can't find anything related in dmesg or Xorg.0.log. I have a suspicion that this could be Compiz related as it's only the nicely-textured parts of the x-screen that get redrawn, not the whole screen. Thanks Szabolcs, I will take your advice and install from source (about to have a go now). [Bug 250597] Re: Cannot mount ntfs partition as only writable by 1 user
The problem isn't that not-even-one can write, but that any user can read/write when it's supposed to be accessible by just 1 user (the owner). Using the 'no_def_opts' option, which removes 'allow_other', does prevent all users (except the mounting user) having access, but this isn't the ideal solution (it's no good for group permissions or allowing others read-only etc). Think this might be the same bug. When I use 2 X screens through using 2 monitors on the proprietary nvidia driver the volume control reproducibly crashes every time I use the laptop hotkeys to adjust the volume.
