[Bug 1517569] [NEW] after change my password using a character * i was unable to login in graphic mode, but in terminal it works ok, i change to a password without * and it works fine in all, graphic

2015-11-18 Thread Tiago
Public bug reported:

I'm using ubuntu 15.10 and recently change my password it works ok, but
after reboot my machine i can't login anymore using the graphic
interface, but when i enter the command line mode i can login normally.
I make sure that the problem was the password changed instaling ubuntu
in a virtual machine and trying the same thing, i realize that when i
use the * character in my password this error occurs. Once occurred the
first time i try to change the password and login again in graphic mode
but it doesn't work, only reinstalling the system.

[Bug 1461668] [NEW] ir-keytable presses recognised but not working

2015-06-03 Thread tiago
Public bug reported:

I'm using ir-keytable to map button presses on a remote control to
keyboard presses. I'm using an old Apple remote and after scanning for
the keycodes I've produced a keymap file which is loaded by ir-keytable.
However, I have only succeeded in getting the arrow keys and enter
working (KEY_UP, KEY_DOWN, KEY_LEFT, KEY_RIGHT, KEY_ENTER). All the
other keypresses that I've tried are recognised by ir-keytable, but are
not being passed to the system. For example, the KEY_BACKSPACE which I
need. Running ir-keytable -t and pressing the relevant remote button I
get:

1433359068.641206: event type EV_KEY(0x01) key_down: KEY_BACKSPACE(0x0001)
1433359068.641206: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
1433359068.641230: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x77e1c03d
1433359068.641230: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
1433359068.641235: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x77e1c03d
1433359068.641235: event type EV_SYN(0x00).

But it never works as backspace. For example, if I open a text editor
and use the arrow or enter keys, I can see the cursor moving around. But
the backspace does not work. Also any other keymap that I've tried (e.g.
numbers, letters) does not work.

I'm using ir-keytable 1.6.0-2 in xubuntu 15.04. My system is a
NUC5i5RYHK, the IR driver is nuvoton-cir. The output of ir-keytable is:

Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event3) with:
Driver nuvoton-cir, table rc-rc6-mce

2015-06-03 Thread tiago
I should also add that I'm using an upstream kernel (3.19.8-992-generic
#201505300306) due to some issue with the HDMI sound, but with the
default kernel I had before the remote issue was exactly the same.

[Bug 1461668] Re: ir-keytable presses recognised but not working

2015-06-03 Thread tiago
Hi,

I've just tried swapping the key code for up and back, and now the old
button for backspace does up as intended, but the old button for up
never does backspace.

This is my mapping file:

==> universal_wr7 <==
# Adapted from Apple Remote by Sab, Universal WR7
0x77e1503d KEY_UP
0x77e1303d KEY_DOWN
0x77e1903d KEY_LEFT
0x77e1603d KEY_RIGHT
0x77e1a03d KEY_ENTER
0x77e1c03d KEY_BACKSPACE

I have a init.d script that is the following:

#!/usr/bin/env bash
echo 'Modprobing...'
modprobe -r nuvoton_cir
sleep 1
echo 'Echoing...'
echo "auto" > /sys/bus/acpi/devices/NTN0530\:00/physical_node/resources
sleep 1
echo 'Modprobing...'
modprobe nuvoton-cir
sleep 1
echo 'Clearing the old keytable...'
ir-keytable -c
sleep 1
echo 'Injecting the new keytable...'
ir-keytable -p NEC,RC-5,RC-6,JVC,SONY,LIRC -w /etc/rc_keymaps/universal_wr7
echo 'Done.'

[Bug 1461668] Re: ir-keytable presses recognised but not working

2015-06-07 Thread tiago
I've managed to fix the problem. Turns out lirc was the culprit here.
Uninstalling lirc and making sure that the file with my keymaps is in
/etc/rc_maps.cfg solves the problem.

maarten (info-maartenabbring) your hack was the only thing that worked
for me thanks! I tried everything else...

"cleared out the sections 'start' and 'stop' in the script
/etc/init.d/hsqldb. Then did the sudo apt-get purge hsqldb-server"

awesome!

[Bug 41634] Re: Network card stops working (sky2)

2006-06-26 Thread tiago
I confirm this bug, and I've been using the 2.6.15-25 kernel in my LG
LW20 Laptop. In certain times, which seem to coincide with higher usage,
the network just hangs. Sometimes it's enough to bring the interface
down and up again, others it seems one needs to reload the kernel
module. Anyway, this is a very annoying bug.

It is probably related with bug #38865, in which the driver caused the
system to hang. This has been fixed with the kernel update 2.6.15-25,
but the network hanging is still very real. All these problems
originated when I upgraded to Ubuntu 6, so I did the same things with
the previous driver version and it all worked ok.

[Bug 154679] Can't mount a LUKS volume after unmounting

2007-10-19 Thread tiago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

I have a USB disk with a LUKS ext3 encrypted partition. When I plug it
in for the first time, gnome detects the encrypted partition, asks me
for the password, and mounts the device. If I unmount it and them plug
it in again, it fails to mount the volume again. In nautilus
"computer:/// ", the volume name is still there. When I double click it
to access it it says:

"Unable to mount the volume xpto"

Details:

"mount: special device /dev/mapper/luks_crypto_(...) does not exist"

However, if I use cryptsetup and mount manually, I can mount the volume.

I'm using Gutsy, as updated on 19/10/2007. This problem did not occur
with Feisty. Maybe this is a udev or kernel related issue. I noticed in
Feisty that if I unmounted a USB device and mounted it again, the device
name would be different. Eg., if this device was /dev/sdb when mounted
for the first time, the second time it got mounted it would be /dev/sdc,
the third time /dev/sdd, etc. With Gutsy, if I mount the device again
it's name is again /dev/sdb. Maybe the gnome volume manager associates
this device name to the particular LUKS device map created the first
time, and tries to mount it again, without calling cryptsetup. Then it
fails, because the mapper device does not exist anymore and cryptsetup
needs to be called to create a new one.

[Bug 154679] Re: Can't mount a LUKS volume after unmounting

2007-10-19 Thread tiago
I should just add that if the device name for this device is changed
(for instance, if I mount another USB device first), then when I try to
mount it a second time, gnome will ask for the password and mount it
correctly.

[Bug 154671] firefox resizes when changing tabs maximized

2007-10-19 Thread tiago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Using Gutsy as updated from 19/10/2007. When firefox is maximized,
changing tabs results in the window being resized down. I'm with a
resolution of 1680x1050, and the size of the firefox window resizes to
the size it would have if the resolution was 1280x800 (or something like
that). Pressing on the restore/unmaximize button and maximize again puts
firefox back on it's original size. But every time I switch tabs, it
falls back to the smaller size.

This problem doesn't happen if firefox is not maximized, even if I
resize it to occupy most of the screen.

Switching off compiz fixes the problem. I tried to disable a variety of
compiz settings, but never managed to eliminate the bug.

I'm using the new 'intel' driver for xorg, in a LG LW20 laptop with
Intel Mobile 915GM. (If you're wondering about the resolution in a
laptop, I'm using an external monitor.)

$ ls /usr/lib64/ | grep "libfprint"
libfprint.a

libfprint.so
libfprint.so.0
libfprint.so.0.0.0

so when i try to install fprint_demo or libpam_fprint i get this error:

[Bug 592254] Re: Rename option "Mirror" to "Flip Horizontal"

2010-06-27 Thread Tiago
To me, "Mirror" by itself means absolutely nothing.
'Mirror' or 'Flip' is a transformation using a reference axis of a picture
(even two, depending on the implementation).
The direction must be known before application.

+1 for the "Flip Horizontally" string

[Bug 525360] Re: Man page isn't synchronized

2010-07-09 Thread Tiago
I really don't know how to help you Matthew since I don't know what's
inaccurate or missing... because it's missing.
Let me try to explain it: I started using w3m (in early Ubuntu versions) with
the assistance of many tutorials found on-line, but then I made notice that
some of the flags in these tutorials could not be met in the man page. Roughly
at the same time I began using ELinks and never returned to w3m.

Recently I accidentally a flamefest of CLI browsers and wondered if the
man page was updated... and it wasn't.

So, I'll take your advice and send them an email this weekend to ask
what is going on.

[Bug 1888101] Re: 'unsupported protocol' error when using PyMySQL

2020-08-12 Thread Tiago
Hi Seth,

In my case its sort of a complicated setup. We have a MariaDB running on an
Ubuntu 18.04 server with SSL and ed25519. Then, I followed the instructions on
the Superset documentation for manual installation
(https://superset.incubator.apache.org/installation.html) and installed the
software on an Ubuntu 20.04. When using the mysqldb python driver the Superset
software was giving out an error and I decided to try to change to PyMySQL
(since superset uses SLQAlchemy should not make a big difference). Then the
error is shown when trying to connect.
I haven't tried another version of Python or Openssl.

The only way it unmount my pen disks is by going root and then umounting

[Bug 89678] Re: Eclipse do not use the default java machine

2007-04-18 Thread Tiago Sousa
Yes, you can obviously do that, improving the speed and decreasing the
memory used.

Anyway, that is not the point, I just think it should use the default
java machine, selected through update-alternatives. Java-6 doesn't need
to be a dependency, but, if installed, and if it is selected as the
default java machine, then it should be automatically used.

[Bug 114307] CD-Drive does not read or write CDs

2007-05-12 Thread Tiago Cogumbreiro
Public bug reported:

Feisty has a problem with my cd-drive. When I try to mount a data CD this error
appears:
mount: /dev/scd0: can't read superblock

Audio-CDs do not work too.

The CD drive worked before installing Feisty. It currently works with
LiveCDs. So, it is a problem affecting Feisty only. Maybe related to the
Kernel? My CD drive used to be hd-something and now it is scd0.

It is strange that the assertion is triggered. Commenting it out will

work around it.

[Bug 217057] Re: I can't use accents in guests installed on VirtualBox (Hardy)

2008-07-02 Thread Tiago Pereira
Hey, I think I have found a solution... it may seem really simple but it
now works for me... When you are running the virtual machine if you
press the right Ctrl key the accents start working. So I went to
File->Preferences (in the main virtualbox window) then selected "entry"
and checked out the box saying Auto-Capture Keyboard. Restarted the
virtual machine.

After that it always works fine until you press the right Ctrl key...
But if you press it again it will work fine again...

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 with a portuguese keyboard and virtualbox 1.6.2
