[Bug 1200775] Re: apturl-gtk crashed with AttributeError in __init__(): 'InstallBackendAptdaemon' object has no attribute 'connect'

2013-09-24 Thread tmsbrdrs
the gnome-shell extension mentioned is appsearch, it uses apturl to install
packages without opening ubuntu software center.
I'm having the same issues with installing packages this way. I've also run
into similar problems using ubuntu software center, though the majority of
packages I've installed through usc have worked properly. Currently using
Ubuntu Gnome 13.10, updated fully.

Problem and workaround both confirmed for Ubuntu 9.04 x86. Perhaps it
might be a good idea not to include the normalize plugin until a fix has
been found.

[Bug 350040] Re: Image viewer will not read .bmp images

2009-05-15 Thread tmsbrdrs
So far it's not been a problem with Jaunty. As I stated in a previous
post, I'm not completely sure what caused it in the first place as it
seemed to be a completely random occurrence. If it happens with Jaunty
I'll post immediately with all information available to me.

It took a few months before the problem showed on Intrepid so I wouldn't
expect it to occur immediately on Jaunty.

[Bug 303406] Re: Microphone not working on Ubuntu 8.10 after update

2009-04-02 Thread tmsbrdrs
I followed the exact advise to fix my own problems with my microphone
using either skype or MSN.

It fixed the problems momentarily. I left my computer on overnight and
have not restarted it. I did close Skype and aMSN and started both upon
waking up. Again, I have no microphone functionality through either
program. I have tested it without either, just unmuting it and tapping
it. There is definite functionality with the microphone itself but their
is none through either Skype or aMSN.

I believe the fix is not just in installing and running gnome-alsamixer
but a combination of attempts made which resulted in restored
functionality.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 294076 ***

A workaround fix for OOo only is as follows.

Go to SystemPreferencesAppearanceFonts

Under Rendering, choose Subpixel Smoothing.

This works perfectly if you have tried no other fixes. Regardless, it
will make the menu for OOo show up.

From a fresh install of Ubuntu (no content filter needed), go to
SystemPreferencesAppearanceFonts

Under Rendering, select Subpixel Smoothing. OOo menu text should now be
perfectly visible with no lines.

[Bug 350040] Re: Image viewer will not read .bmp images

2009-03-28 Thread tmsbrdrs
I'm still not completely sure what happened. It may be reproducible but
so far, I've yet to get the ability to view .bmp images back through
image viewer so I'm not sure if I could make it do this again.

I am currently running Ubuntu 8.10, fully patched with all updates.

As stated above, this happened after I highlighted a large number (30+)
of .bmp images, I inadvertantly right clicked and released as my mouse
buttons have a hair trigger. I think it chose the first option which is
to open the images. That's all I know besides the fact that it will now
not recognize .bmp image header data. I will include a screenshot of the
error. As stated before, other image viewing programs such as the Gimp
and F-Spot have not been effected.

[Bug 350040] [NEW] Image viewer will not read .bmp images

2009-03-27 Thread tmsbrdrs
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

The default image viewer used to view .bmp images perfectly. In fact,
just a few minutes ago, it worked perfectly. A friend sent me a .bmp
file and I attempted to open it with the default image viewer in Ubuntu
8.10. Thought I'd looked at the same image less than 3 minutes prior, it
now won't show the images, sending me an error that BMP image has bogus
header data. This happens with every bitmap file I try to open now. I've
checked it with the Gimp and they open perfectly. I've also tried them
in F-Spot and they open perfectly. The only change happened when I was
highlighting a folder full of .bmp images to delete. A menu opened at
random just as I was releasing the mouse buttom, it highlighted the top
option and I have no idea what happened from there but now .bmp images
won't open, even ones that have been on my computer for the past 3
months. It's not a huge deal for me, but it's something that should be
fixed.

[Bug 308830] Re: Toolbar text is invisible

2009-02-15 Thread tmsbrdrs
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 294076 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294076

There's an easy fix for getting OOo menus to show up while the cube is
enabled along with all other advanced features.

Just go to SystemPreferencesAppearance
Click on the Fonts tab and under Rendering, choose Subpixel Smoothing.

That's it, your menus should show up perfectly. Unfortunately this
doesn't fix any problems with aMSN. I'm not sure if it fixes the
problems with menus in WINE as I don't have it installed.
