thanks for fast response ! I tried to be equally fast and send the crash
report - but alas, my Evolution mail program refused to send anything.
Later the computer crashed totally so I had to reload Ubuntu 6.10 from
CD. I.e. the fault is probably not Firefox. But I suspect an erratic
compilation of a file using "make" and "make install". A week ago that
operation resulted in a garbled terminal screen. Since then I have had
various minor errors. Forget about this matter for now.
