[Bug 873757] Re: Failed to fetch http://pt.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gmp4/libgmp3c2_4.3.2+dfsg-2ubuntu1_amd64.deb 403 Forbidden

2011-10-14 Thread tota
Workaround: Download the ISO; print the CD; use it from your installed
Ubuntu; When asked, don't allow network communication for latest
updates. When finished, reboot and then after login you can go to
updates and it will work.

For me it's just that it crashed when exiting. But it doesn't matter
really because the result is what I wanted anyway - get out of the
instaler!

Re: [Bug 293539] Re: package samba failed to install/upgrade: Conflicts found! Please edit `/etc/samba/smb.conf' and sort them out manually.

2008-11-11 Thread tota
Hi Steve.
Thank you for reminding me. I edited /etc/samba/smb.conf accordingly. I
had solved the problem nevertheless.
I'm thinking that it would be nice if we could have a special folder
keeping backups of changed configuration files for samba or other
packages. All the instalation would go without any questions. At the
end, the system would ask all the questions, presenting the differences,
and the user could replace/maintain or reconcile with manual supervision
at his/her choice. After that, the system would restart all services
modified. Even if the user got confused he/she could go to the update
log folder and get back the correct version of the configuration file.
We could have un update log telling diferences line by line and pointing
to the previous and new config. For example
file /log/update8.10/log.txt:

#Section [SAMBA]
...
Applying update from version 1 to version 2
...
Configuration file /etc/samba/smb.conf
saved to /log/update8.10/old/etc/samba/smb.conf
#Changing configuration
...
changed line 55 from:
wins support = yes
to
; wins support = no
...
Changed file saved to /etc/samba/smb.conf and to
/log/update8.10/new/etc/samba/smb.conf

What do you think of this idea?
Cheers,
Antonio

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 293539 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293539

Dear Jean-Baptiste

As you may already now I was trying to use the proposed merge between my
old smb.conf and the changes that ocurred on the new. As you ask, you'l
find attached the required files. I'm very glad to help!
I'm not acquainted with bug report procedures. Should I update my bug
"duplicate" report or add information to the original one (293539)?

Best Regards
