[Bug 1781030] Re: Kivy has no desktop launcher

2018-07-11 Thread tshirtman
Kivy is an application development framework for Python, not an
application. Does that require a launcher? I don't see what would be the
expected result of starting it.

It's like asking for a desktop launcher for "QT" or "GTK".

Please clarify :).

[Bug 991939] Re: After suspend to RAM and resume screen does not recover

2012-08-05 Thread tshirtman
I have this issue too, using nouveau with a G84 ([GeForce 8600 GTS])
card too. I tried bazillons of different configurations to make either
hibernate or suspend to work, to no avail. I'm ready to try anything to
make it work.

On fedora 17, with the same config, monitors wake up on resume and
desktop come back (altought unresponsive).

i would really try more to understand this patch if i had more time,
it's the most probable one to be linked to this bug in the set of
patches in the compij-plugins-main source package, alas my c++ foo is
really bad, and i really lack time to dive more into that.

I think it's probably easier to look at compiz-plugins-main history on
launchpad
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~compiz-team/compiz-plugins-main/0.9.7/changes
or one of the others, or maybe
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lbrulet-8/compiz-plugins-main/fix-876591/revision/21),

find the first offending commit, and revert it in the current package
source to rebuild the package.

note that i didn't say «easy» i said «easier». But anybody finding the
time to restore the cycling on left/right (whatever key si configured
to them) will have my gratitude.

the currently configured way to put a window half left or half right is
super+left or super+right, however you can change that in CCSM (i
changed back to ctrl-alt-4 ctrl-alt-6 until there is a coherent way to
manage all the stuff without numpad), look at the binding part of the
grid plugin.

still no cycling, howether, i think that's gone forever :/

I started a discussion on unity-design mailing list (require joining
the unity-design launchpad team), but no answer yet.

There are keyboard changes on the way, you might be able to place
windows left/right with super+→ and super+← but it's still the broken
version, we need to raise this issue with design, or the same behaviour
for 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 *will* be broken for Precise+1

2012-02-13 Thread tshirtman
I don't get either why the cycling works for ctrl-alt-5, but not for
ctrl-alt-4 and ctrl-alt-6, which are much more useful.

Any plan to restore the behaviour by precise release? it's still like
this in precise beta.

I'm affected by this bug, and for me, it's not a dupplicate of #878516
which is about size restoration, this one is about switching between
various width when using ctrl-alt-4 or ctrl-alt-6, so the window can
take 1/2 of the screen, or 1/3, or 1/4, or 3/4, or 2/3… this was a very
useful feature, and it diseappeared some time ago. It's not back in
precise yet. Can someone restore it?

restart in compatilibily mode (with a half a screen stranslation, but
it's another issue) and i have to accept to switch to the driver

also, playing with the bios and rebooting seems to do the same as the

i added the aforementioned option in my xorg.conf, hope it will help.

[Bug 407691] [NEW] keyboard events not always seen by xev (targa traveller)

2009-08-01 Thread tshirtman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udev

On jaunty (doesn't happen on hardy, not tested on intrepid) on a targa
traveller (see lshw below):

Keyboards events are not always captured, (writing or using alt-tab)
sometimes it works perfectly, then completely stop 10 seconds later,
some events arrive after a very long time (up to a minute observed).
Sometimes a push event is seen but not the release event just after,
resulting in repeat of the key for some undetermined time. Mouse works
perfectly.

This obviously render the laptop unusable and user is sticking to hardy.

I may not be able to give further information as this is not my PC. I hope this
helps.

I'm affected by this to, but not in a tty, (but the characters are not
displayed correctly in this case).

I was thinking of a readline bug but I'm not sure.

[Bug 93509] Re: xorg fails with ati driver with feisty on Apple ppc (post herd5 update)

2007-06-27 Thread tshirtman
I found a good and simple solution here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/82875/comments/8
just added

Option "noint10" "yes"

in the driver section... and all went good, 1300+fps :D I've a bug in compiz
(about 1/5 of the screen at the right doesn't refresh correctly) but this is a
different bug.
good bye ;)

2007-06-27 Thread tshirtman
Got the same issue on power mac G4 after upgrading from edgy (where I
did no had issues). I can use the devfb driver but obviously 3d
performances are poor... the GPU is a radeon 7500 (RV200 chip).

I did not understand very well the other solutions exwplained here :$.
Is it possible to use the radeon driver?

Re: [Bug 120600] Re: gnome doesn't start.

2007-06-16 Thread tshirtman
A thousand thanks!

"lo" was not properly configured... and this was all my fault as I
removed by mistake the auto lo, when configuring my wifi in
/etc/network/interfaces...

I'm a bit of ashamed...

My gnome now start properly. I think we can close the bug, but maybe
an error message could be send somewere in this case?

[Bug 120600] gnome doesn't start.

2007-06-15 Thread tshirtman
Public bug reported:

Just (re)installed my system, did updates without changing any repo, and
with no extra package. after the reboot gnome doesn't start, it stick on
the brown screen, after a while a grey window appear in the top-left of
the screen. same issue if I load a gnome-recovery session (I never get
the gnome-terminal). On the other hand I can load a xterm session, and
start metacity and some other apps from there.

launching nautilus load the wallpaper... I sometimes get a frozen nautilus
windows about 5mn later.
gconf-editor loads but freeze when opening his folders.
gnome panel loads void and frozen panels panels in about five minutes too.
gnome-session just give the tmp file name... no other errors.

I can install xfce, log to it without problems, but use of things too
gnome-related cause issues, gnome-terminal freeze, I think the issue may
be related to dbus or gconf, but I'm not really sure.

I got kind of the same issue on my laptop but I did not reinstall, on
this on the session load without issues but about ten minutes after the
login.

I did not found anythong interresting in logs, but as I'm not a good
admin I may have missed something.
