[Bug 1594023] Re: Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won't shutdown. 16.04
This issue still persists.Mine is an Hp laptop with an Intel Bay Trail processor, Intel HD graphics(Not Nvidia), 8GB RAM with Dual boot Windows and Ubuntu 16.04.2. Bios version F.46 and kernel version 4.15.0-55-generic Whenever I try to SHUTDOWN/RESTART/SLEEP the Screen goes off(Black) but the Hard Disk keeps spinning with power button light ON. sometimes while doing shutdown the screen hangs on Ubuntu logo with dots. when esc is pressed it's seen that after [OK] Reached Target Shutdown nothing happens cursor blinking or Freeze. I tried to Re-install ubuntu with 16.04.6 while installing it displayed error related to APCI. somehow it got installed and when I checked dmesg it showed this error message "ACPI Error: [\_PR_.CPU0._PPC] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20170831/psargs-364)" and this "ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.EC0.IPCL, AE_NOT_FOUND (20170831/psparse-550)" I tried almost everything I found on internet acpi=force, acpi=off and other stuff. It's discouraging from 2016 to 2019 there is still no permanent fix for this issue. some people on internet tried some or other fix for some it worked for some it didn't. [Bug 113111] Re: USB charging for unknown devices is broken
Thanks for looking into the bug. This problem still exists in Feisty; I haven't made the switch to Gutsy yet so I'm not sure if the problem is still there in Gutsy. Another thing I found it is that when the Zune's battery is completely dead and I plug it into my computer, it will start charging. Once the Zune has enough power to actually turn on, it does and this causes Ubuntu to recognize it so the computer stops charging it. Have any ideas what package might be causing this issue or what a solution might be? I'd be interested to know. [Bug 113107] mplayer having trouble playing piped dv input
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mplayer I'm using dvgrab to capture raw dv from a video camera and piping that to mplayer to play the video. I use the following command: dvgrab --format raw - | mplayer -cache 4096 - In Edgy Eft, the previous command works flawlessly and I see live video from the camera. But in Feisty Fawn, the previous command just hangs with: Win32 LoadLibrary failed to load: avisynth.dll, /usr/lib/win32/avisynth.dll, /usr/local/lib/win32/avisynth.dll libavformat file format detected. To make sure it was an mplayer problem, I got the mplayer package for Edgy (2:0.99+1.0pre8-0ubuntu8) and installed that on Feisty and it works again. Therefore, I think it's definitely a problem with mplayer. [Bug 113111] USB charging for unknown devices is broken
Public bug reported: I recently upgraded to Feisty and I noticed my Microsoft Zune does not charge by USB any longer; I could definitely charge my Zune when I was using Edgy. I've reproduced this result on four computers now. I think that any unrecognized device (such as the Microsoft Zune) will not be charged via USB anymore because my cell phone (Motorola) charges via USB in both Edgy and Feisty and it is recognized by Rythmbox and ubuntu in general.
