[Bug 164684] Re: tali computer players cheat

I think the difficulty setting determines how wisely the computer
players make use of their scores. For example if you throw five sixes do
you record it as a chance, a yahtzee, a three of a kind, a four of a
kind, a full house or as sixes above the line?

[Bug 932659] [NEW] Laggy response to mouse clicks in gnomine

2012-02-15 Thread ubername
Public bug reported:

When clicking on the squares in gnomine there is now (compared with
early versions of ubuntu - since unity I think) a noticeable delay
between clicking on the square and the 'reveal'.

This obviously ruins any chance of a high score!

When I click on the global menu buttons (close, minimise, maximise

the unity 'shortcuts' panel displayed on monitor 1, rather than having
any effect on the window in monitor 2.

2010-03-20 Thread ubername

In Lucid Beta 1 the file gedit.desktop in usr/share/applications has
X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gedit
right at the top, above
[Desktop Entry]

This seems to stop it from working properly.

I edited and put it to the bottom, to match a previous version I have.

[Bug 502607] Re: Cannot Browse to Windows Shared Printer In Lucid

2010-01-03 Thread ubername
Pretty sure this is related to:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/490201

It's not just a printer issue: you can not see any of the machines in
the workgroup.

FWIW I don't think it is just a Nautilus issue, as the same behaviour is
exhibited in gnome-commander. smbclient has been suggested as a
potential avenue to explore.

[Bug 490201] Re: samba fails to open shares because of fixed unknown password

2009-11-30 Thread ubername
just noticed this in /var/log/samba/log.lucidbox

[2009/11/30 16:01:23, 0] smbd/map_username.c:140(map_username)
can't open username map /etc/samba/smbusers. Error No such file or directory

which is true - there is no smbusers file in etc/samba although a list
of users appears in system-config-samba:

m...@lucidbox:/etc/samba$ ls -l
total 20
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8 2009-11-26 19:58 gdbcommands
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12455 2009-11-29 10:25 smb.conf
m...@lucidbox:/etc/samba$

I haven't deleted it - this is how samba install from synaptic left it.

[Bug 490201] Re: samba fails to open shares because of fixed unknown password

2009-11-30 Thread ubername
Hi

See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1341141 for more info.

In a nutshell - nautilus and gnome-commander both ask for passwords when
attempting to access a workgroup from a lucid box.

[Bug 453444] Re: /var/log fills up with "all normal" messages @ about 575/sec fill up the available space

2009-11-20 Thread ubername
I had the same symptoms as Matt, I haven't had a chance to check the
syslog messages yet to see if it is exactly the same.

To cheekily repeat my question on the forum thread for this bug

it says that the milestone for this is Ubuntu karmic-updates which has an
expected date of 2011-04-09!
Does this mean we have to wait until then for the fix?

This problem seems to have gone away with various recent upgrades, but I
don't know what fixed it for me.

[Bug 279478] Re: alsa sound fades out when headphones are plugged in until you inaudible

2008-10-18 Thread ubername
Adding "options snd-hda-intel model=dell-3stack" to the bottom of my
"/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" did not fix it in my case, either.

Also DellE520, Sigmatel9227.
