[Bug 607560] Re: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise
The problem is still present and really annoying. Ubuntu 64 bit 11.10, Kernel 3.2.1, ext4fs with ecryptfs encrypted home folder, Lenovo R400. As it seems to be related to logging (and maybe DBUS), any chance to solve it? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607560 Title: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/607560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 886540] Re: Dash: Search slow, often opening first file result instead of first application result
I have the same problem - after booting up my laptop and logging into Ubuntu 11.10 the first thing I do is starting some programs. I don't keep them all in the left pane, so I hit the super key and search for "firefox", "chromium" or "amarok", but the apps are not shown, only the results of the file lens are shown. It seems that the app lens isn't ready right after starting Ubuntu, as the app lens doesn't show up at the bottom when you press the super key (only the home lens, file and music lens are shown). I always have to press super key multiple times, i.e. open/close unity multiple times until the app lens is ready (and shows up at the bottom). [Bug 176125] Re: Ubuntu should activate the IPv6 privacy extension by default (echo 2 >/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/use_tempaddr)
I believe it would be great to have this feature in the upcoming LTS release, as the problem affects more and more users in the future, especially with the 5 year support cycle. I think it's not a big deal for admins to disable it, while most plain users aren't aware of the problem nor have the knowledge to change the setting according to their needs, which is privacy and security. There should be at least a simple gui checkbox to let the user choose which state he wants. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176125 Title: Ubuntu should activate the IPv6 privacy extension by default (echo 2 >/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/use_tempaddr) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/176125/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 431975] Re: downloading a torrent to an encrypted home partition hangs and uses 100% CPU
I think the automated scripts are far to aggressive while trying to "fix" the bugs. Please change the importance of this problem to something else than "wishlist", as it's a bug. [Bug 651030] Re: gnome cpu applet is unable to set max cpu frequency ( Core 2 Duo)
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Since kernel version 2.6.32-25-generic it's not possible any more to change the CPU to the maximum available of 2,4 GHz. The gnome-cpu-applet shows the available states (800 MHz, 1,6 GHz, 2,4 GHz), but after clicking "2,4 GHz", the CPU is running at 1,6 GHz. Selecting the "Performance" option doesn't help either, still running at 1,6 GHz. Setting the CPU via "$ cpufreq-selector -c 0 -f 240" doesn't work. Tried the kernel 2.6.35-02063506.201009271105 from the mainline kernel PPA, but the problem still exists. Booting with kernel 2.6.32-24-generic, it works. So I guess it's a regression. [Bug 651030] [NEW] gnome cpu applet is unable to set max cpu frequency ( Core 2 Duo)
Public bug reported: Since kernel version 2.6.32-25-generic it's not possible any more to change the CPU to the maximum available of 2,4 GHz. [Bug 441204] Re: System hang when I used cisco vpn client and I want to connect to our exchange server with evolution
Got the same problem with the new kernel (2.6.31-14-generic) but ONLY when using my external wifi card (rtl 8187 chipset) What I did in terminal to install cisco vpn client to the new kernel: a) downloaded and extracted vpnclient-linux-x86_64-4.8.02.0030-k9.tar.gz b) patch it with vpnclient-linux-2.6.31-final.diff c) replace the string const struct net_device_ops *netdev_ops; with struct net_device_ops *netdev_ops; netdevice.h files with: # sudo sed -i 's/const\ struct\ net_device_ops\ \*netdev_ops;/struct\ net_device_ops\ \*netdev_ops;/' `find /usr/src -name netdevice.h` d) installing cisco vpn: # sudo ./vpn_install e) turning off 2nd cpu core with: sudo sh -c 'echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online' to prevent crash caused by cisco dual core bug f) start cisco vpn with: # sudo /etc/init.d/vpnclient_init restart and connect with: # sudo vpnclient connect wlan Works like a charm for my internal intel gm 45 express chipset. But when I try with my external wifi Alfa awus036h (realteak 8187 chipset), the whole pc freezes as soon as I press the enter key to establish the connection with my Lenovo R400 laptop. -- System hang when I used cisco vpn client and I want to connect to our exchange server with evolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441204 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 286164] Re: Network Manager disables all wireless networks if kill switch is on
I tried the Ubuntu 9.10 beta live CD with Kernel 2.6.31-11 and the problem did exist there too. Same thing with Fedora 11 (KDE 4.2.2 and Kernel 2.6.29.4-167) live cd. I'm running a Lenovo R400 laptop. -- Network Manager disables all wireless networks if kill switch is on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 286164] Re: Network Manager disables all wireless networks if kill switch is on
Well, after this behaviour had been fixed for me since 8.04, i confirm it has appeared again in 9.04 (jaunty). It is really annoying to have the internal wifi (intel wifi 5100) enabled (and at least, shut in down via "sudo ifconfig wlan1 down") in order to connect with my external usb wifi (realtek 8187). Why does disabling the internal wireless via button also disable any external wifi? Please change it back that disabling the internal doesn't mean the external get's shut down, too. -- Network Manager disables all wireless networks if kill switch is on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
